The other day, some persons now keep talking big about the future technology, thought they had told us about the wrong predict of "GUI ruin".

When the object oriented language became a trend twenty years ago, they had burned FORTRAN and COBOL in effigy with saying

"Like that dirty languages are going to be ruined."

According to ITR report, the use of COBOL is the third after Java and Visual Basic

According to IPA report, the existing COBOL code is 16.8% after Java (25.4%).

According to Gartner report, the code is increasing five billions every year, and the ratio of code make up 65%, two hundred billion of all code of three hundred ten billion

Though I know well any result of research is controllable from methods and views.

It's an indisputable fact that the ruin is out of question.

-----

Even if in FORTRAN or COBOL, the legacy of the past (library group), would be enormous quantity. In addition, the experiences in use over several decades are credible.

At the time, we engineer, thoroughly had neglected to this idea "Heritage (Legacy)".

In the world of computer software, a lot of innovative technologies have happened, but we finally couldn't cull this overwhelming "heritage" eventually.

-----

In other words, just say, "Old" in itself (is suppose to) has a huge value than the "New".

At first glance, senior engineers look like to be daydreaming and useless for everything but they have accumulated (Legacy) great assets.

Mr. /Ms. young engineers. Do you understand?

If you make fun of them, you could encounter dangerous situations.

If they go all out, they use technical legacy skills, abuse the power of unreasonable positions, in addition to,

make you land in hell.

There are some motivations whenever people make a move. We could agree that there are some reasons except for money.

I have been thinking since the beginning of this April, that whether there are some reasons except for money about a corporation as a artificial person, cooperation for profit in particular.

I know well that I was criticized with saying "It is amateurish and hackneyed argument", "It had been resolved before long time".

But my present theme is whether there is a case of strategic merge and takeover with the exception of the profit.

For example, people sometimes does merge and takeover(love affair and marriage) for the purpose of in-corporeality "love".

Now I am reading a book I purchased at a convenience store, whose title is "Adult economics common sense".

I think that many customers who come to a convenience store, have no intention to buy any book at all, so the books in the store might be easy to read with simple words and phrases.

Studying "technical writing", the books have displayed in convenience store are good for you.

-----

I know a person who buys enormous books, and "just" accumulate them on the desk or shelf.

Even if the person could get something relief to have the books, it is just private issue. I should not say any comment. But I dislike such persons called "bibliophilia" who just collect books but don't read them at all.

I also must read a variety of books for my work; nevertheless I will be a bankrupt if I buy all books I want to read.

In my case, a public library helps me a lot, thouth there are two problems.

(1) I can never write down in the book.

(1) I have to return the book.

Of course, it is natural. But for me, it has tremendous difference between possible or not.

Last night, I destroyed my HDD by my mistake for the first time in years.

I wrote a SD image of Raspberry PI to the HDD. It was an elementary mistake, and I let me down.

The only consolation is that it was my private HDD.

-----

Backups of HDD are going to be difficult because of the enormous disk size.

In many case, HDDs are crashed, all data become missing.

To make a safe and secure backup, I should buy two same capacity of HDD at the same time, and try the backup temporary.

This means, twice costs are needed.

And, "mass storage" can store much data, so there is no need to regularly organize data, and the maintenance period will be long.

I think it is inevitable and imperative not to grasp the contents of the HDD, not to manage them and to become chaos states

-----

Destruction of HDD is likely to "the end of the world".

However at the same time, the destruction is a change to make a new world, breaking from the past.

This is to crush the current power and encourage the establishment of new power --- it is "revolution", not an exaggeration.

So, I'd like to declare the following loudly,

"I did not "destroy" the HDD"

"I've "revolutionized" the hard disk"

Rebels rational!

World revolution Hurray!

-----

I will have to spend much time to restore this HDD for next long holiday in Japan.

(Continuation from yesterday)

However, from the viewpoint, "economics" and "commerce" should be science subjects absolutely.

"Nomology" is also included in science subjects, because this study needs the assemble of logics through an accumulation of judicial precedents.

Thinking the technology of machine translation, I think "language" and "literature" are also science even if using strong-arm methods.

-----

So I sometimes think that we do not need the frameworks of literature and science.

Each faculty may decide the subjects of the exam from the view of their necessary subjects in the education process.

This is just my opinion, but IT(Information Technology) should have a responsibility to the reason of collapsing frameworks.

-----

I think that many people think the same.

Especially, for teachers of 'psychology' department, I am afraid that teaching "statistics" from scratch is very hard.

If the students have already learned the knowledge and method of "statistics" in high school program, that will make them easier.

------

However, I think that the reason why we cannot realize it, is "it will confuse the front of high school education"

Or, the front will be accused of the blame of "high school is not prep-school for college".

Above all, the purpose of high school is not a method to pass a college, but to get comprehensive higher learning.

In the way, we cannot against the logic that even the division between literature and science is out of the philosophy.

-----

So, I think that the present thought of the framework is a "result of the compromise".

Therefore, the setting of the anime "we are not good at studying" has been established.

In my last column, I wrote about "New Corona Countermeasures Using Placebo".

Later, my junior called and talked a bit about this.

Ebata: "I wrote this story in the context of a" breathtaking" after "severe stories".

Junior: "Mr. Ebata, what are you talking about? That's a serious and essential story about this measure."

Ebata: "Well? Seriously?"

Junior: "If you thought it was a joke, you wouldn't understand my story at all."

-----

Today, I was searching for a patent all day at work, I happened to find a great patent application.

"Devices, systems, and methods for promoting behavioral change based on mindfulness techniques"

The applicant seems to be a US venture company.

I was astonished that the invention of "placebo mindfulness technique" was described as a way to encourage patients to change their daily behavior.

So, I checked what uses placebo as technology. In fact, one of the cognitive-behavioral therapies was a technique called "placebo administration".

In clinical trials of antidepressants for depression, it has also been confirmed that symptoms are improved to some extent even in the placebo group (containing no active ingredient) (*).

(*)Marchesi C, De Panfilis C, Tonna M, Ossola P (2013). "Is placebo useful in the treatment of major depression in clinical practice?" Neuropsychiatr Dis Treat 9: 915-20. doi:10.2147/NDT.S44519. PMC: 3699255. PMID 23836976.

I think that there was a reason why he protested too much, indeed.

(Continuation from yesterday)

However, form the information from a doctor that I have trusted, and as a result of my own all-out papers research and numerical analysis,

"Masks are absolutely effective in preventing new coronary infections"

I am absolutely convinced that.

The reasonings behind this are,

for this, and

for this, and

for this, and

for this, and

for this, and

for this,

they are composition, proofreading, research, and writing.

-----

I don't just believe what people tell me, I've been taught, I've done my own research, I've done my own thinking, and I've written my own conclusions.

"If the result is laughed at in the future, I don't mind it"

I will defiantly declare in the future.

On the other hand, to the people of the future who laugh at me in the past,

"Even your present common sense may be laughed at in the future"

"Are you doing enough to be able to say, "It's always the result of my own thinking and action", so it's okay'?"

I am going to be even prepared to argue with them.

-----

In the case of the corona disaster, I "overwhelmingly recommend" the use of a mask.

Why am I doing ?

This is because the cost-effectiveness is unbelievably high and the sunk costs are endlessly low.

This is because there is a difference of about 147,000 light years between the advantages gained by wearing a mask and the disadvantages lost by not wearing a mask.

In other words, "intense pain, serious illness, and worst death" v.s "instant (seconds) ridicule 10 years in the future".

-----

Well, it's "you" who chooses to use the mask, or not -- however,

that doesn't mean that "you have the right to not wear a mask, anywhere, at your will"

This is because the above cost-benefit discussion does not include "third parties other than you".

-----

As a natural thought,

The act of "I don't believe in masks at all, however I wear masks for people who do believe in them" is

- neithor self-contradictory, nor self-deceptive,

- a common act in the socially accepted sense,

- a super, super, super low-cost approach to building a mutually pleasant society

です。

-----

And well...

I am truly dismayed that there are still some "hopeless and devastated idiots" left who can't even do this level of logic (calculating costs and social conventions).

"There is a world of difference between 'can do' and 'done'"

I think this is common to all things, but especially in "manufacturing," it is an absolute fact.

The program's components are here. So all I have to do is assemble them. After that, It is tempting to feel as if the system has been completed.

In reality, however, the cost (hardship) becomes the same as or exceeds the total cost of conventional parts design and manufacturing.

If the system does not work, it is just garbage.

-- Well, let's get started (sigh)

-----

Recently, I bring my tablet to the bath to read "side story".

However, there are numerous scattered items that have been left in the middle of the story without completing it.

I can understand how a story the writer spread around, and no longer be collected or recovered, and finally they throwed it out.

Besides, 'they have the freedom to leave it unfinished' -- this is probably the difference between professionals and amateurs.

It is arrogant of me to complain as a reader, but I would like to read the story completed properly, no matter what the outcome.

-----

However, I know that it is quite a struggle to keep writing when no feedback (praise or criticism) comes at all.

"I don't want to read your novels at all. Stop it". You might feel as if you were under unspoken pressure.

I can understand it well.

This is really hard.

I also come to that thought every time I release a column.

I would like to share my thoughts with you.

In addition, I have been lying for a long period of time.

I am truly sorry -- but the fact that no one has complained about it suggests that it is now treated like the "boy who warned wolf coming" (or maybe they are just not interested in it).
