At the end of last year, I went back country home.

On outward, I drove on the highway, and on homeward, whole family went back home.

It is sleepy to drive alone isn't it?

So, I had been hearing "Steins;Gate" during driving on highway.

I had installed the contents of animation "Steins;Gate" in my note PC, and heard only voice by a earphone.

It was fun.

All scenes of "Steins;Gate" are in my brain, so only the voice is enough.

In "Steins;Gate", the classic PC "IBN5100" appears. That was a metaphor of the real PC that was made by IBM Co. in 1965.

This PC works as a message translation system, and it enables the persons in the animation to hack the fictional research organization in EU.

-----

This time, I cleaned the storage of country house, and I also found the classic PC.

It is "PC-8001MK2" that was made by NEC Co. in 1983.

At that time, the loading and saving of programs were done by the modem sound, with using a cassette tape recorder.

It had 8bits CPU and 64KB memory only (Attention of the unit). The OS was called "DISK-BASIC" that supported only Basic language.

I didn't understand the concept of OS at all. So entering a company, I was ashamed to my ignorance for a long time.

-----

I wanted to dispose of the PC, but unfortunately I have no way to do it because of the year’s end holiday.

By any chance, I am going to present this PC if you want.

You could hack the research organization to study "Time Machine" in Japan using this classic PC.

(Continuation from yesterday)

I do not mind changing the OS, however, it is truly troubling that I cannot continue to use these familiar tools any more.

I understand that I cannot complain that, since I am allowed to use applications for free. However,

However, for tools that are provided with good intentions,

- When an OS change occurs,

- Continue reforming ,indefinitely.

There is no reason to say such rude messages.

-----

I am also publishing some tools, and For users who make such a request, we responded as follows.

"Since I am publishing all the source code of the program, please remake it yourself as you want. I will not complain at all. "

"Persons who want to use, may continue to remake" - This is a straightforward logic.

At the same time, for persons who don't have programming skills, it is impossible to realize at the beginning.

As a matter of fact, it is almost impossible for persons who are not the developer to take over the development.

Recently, a man who has guide dogs, may get together with the subway of commuters.

Of course, only I am aware of it.

When I find that person, I will be in a mode of guard person.

Once I approached the automatic ticket gate for exit exclusively, I may have led to another ticket gate.

Well, looking at such a scene, I come to think that

"If you are seriously thinking about AI robots and others, you can make a robot of guide dogs instead of AIBO."

The story of this neighborhood is not a story about cost, but I know that it will become a more "miserable" story.

In Japan, against the development of automatic vacuum cleaner,

"What happens if the vacuum cleaner hits the altar, candles (candles) collapse, and it makes a fire?"

It was too famous that the development was stopped by the logic.

Now, Japanese companies are also developing automatic cleaning vacuum cleaners.

Of course, the "candle (candle)" problem has not been solved.

Regarding the development of the guide dog robot, it is not difficult to imagine that this reason is explicitly working.

When an accident occurs, the responsibility of the accident can be forced to "dog" and "the user". It is not necessary for us to forcibly develop and infringe risks.

-----

Overseas, a fatal accident has occurred in an experiment of an automated driving car.

However, an automated driving car may make fatal accidents to "zero as much" in the future.

In order to be "zero as much", it is necessary to prepare to kill some people.

If you think seriously to take the AI robot, the preparation is necessary.

-----

The government withdrew the "poor" budget that is included in AI and robot development,

Manufacturers and ventures will be saved if they contributed as insurance against the damage of the experiment -

I had to spend a whole day in the process of moving to Windows 10.

I think, for example ,Windows XP, "7", and this time "10", forced OS migration is like,

Great earthquake, revolution, coup

that are annoying something.

My "maintenance bias" is strong, that means "conservative" like me,

Migrating an OS means rebuilding an office environment that I have to start to work from scratch.

My work is also affected.

It's common that old files ig going to be unusable, and old programs run to stop working.

-----

Not only OS but also OSS version up is honestly tired.

In particular, I cannot forgive the creators that change file formats and commands on their own without making them backward compatible.

"If you write "readme.txt", do you think that anything is acceptable?"

I can't say that because of the huge weakness, "I'm free to use OSS." So if they say to me

"Do not use if you do not want"

I can't refute a word.

-----

It is natural that the "maintenance bias" become stronger with the age.

For the old brain, anything new is tough and painful.

In particular, seniors have a life-threatening resistance against changes of old and completed objects. (For example, systems, neighborhood associations, nursing care services, etc.)

This is "natural".

But at the same time, it is also a "social evil".

For those who can respond to new things, it is supposed to take away the "easy" way, and enforce the existing "inefficient" way.

-----

Considering this way, this forced change to Windows 10 may be a kind of "social justice", however,

After retirement, I am convinced that I will never respond to an OS version upgrade.

I am a business person who cannot talk to fresh persons about equipment for their job, however if I am allowed to do, I will say,

"Don't make you a business person who say "What should I do next?" easily"

To be more precise, I think that it is better for you to talk to your boss as follow.

"I don't know how to do about this task, howeve, I tired to do the following three A,B,C

"I have done A method. The report is attached in this mail"

"I have thought B and C methods too, but I could not come to think how to start them"

"I may be missing the point of all (1) through (3). I would appreciate it if you could help me with this"

These four phrases are important.

-----

"What should I do next?"-- is the easiest way easy for you, but the hardest wasy for your boss.

In the above four phrases, you might have the worst hard time, and might be in vain. However your boss is ready to "choose" or "modify" the answers you already prepare for them.

-----

Let's put them more simply.

Would you have your boss take a test where he or she has to compose an English essay?

Or do you want your boss to take a mark-sheet test?

Which do you think is easier for your boss?

-----

I think my subordinates who make it easy for me are prettier.

The subordinate who tries to think and solve the problem on their own is cute.

In front of this "cuteness," attributes such as looks, gender, age, etc. are nothing.

I used to work part-time delivering newspapers on a Suber Cub while preparing the exam. When I became a college student, my sister gave me a YAMAHA DT-125 (motocross bike).

Now, our senior daughter is addicted to motorcycles and has obtained a medium-sized license.

As a result of my wife's concern about accidents and my concern about the bike's thermal protection, my senior daughter has purchased a "big scooter" type and is riding it around on a daily basis.

-----

The other day, when my senior daughter was using our family's car, my wife asked me to pick up my junior daughter from the station.

Ebata: "No car here"

Wife: "Why don't you two ride back on (senior daughter's) bike?"

People who don't ride motorcycles don't understand how 'reckless' this is.

First of all, riding a motorcycle that we do not ride on a regular basis is dangerous in itself, and two ride back on is even more dangerous.

"If you're willing to turn a family of four into a family of two in an instant, I'm willing to do it"

I told her, and she seemed to give up.

Motorcycles are not that dangerous if you follow the rules and use the correct procedures, but they still have a much higher injury and death rate than cars.

That's why I can say that the idiots who are running around the streets in gangs and making noise are the worst idiots in the history of mankind.

That aside...

-----

I was influenced by the TV anime "Super Cub", but lately, my enthusiasm for motorcycles has been growing.

However, my wife has asked me to stop until my second daughter graduates from college, so I'm going to be patient for a while longer.

"Isn't a motorcycle a good option for my future retirement?

Sometimes, I thought it.

I definitely think I will have mobility problems in the future and also develop dementia.

On the other hand, I also remember well the dramatic deterioration of their QoL (Quality of Life) after my father and mother were robbed of their means of transportation (cars).

I believe that we have reached a social consensus that it is dangerous for the elderly to drive a car.

So I thought about

"Then how about elderly people driving motorcycles?"

と。

-----

"Ebata. Aren't you a real idiot?" I can almost hear you saying.

If cars are dangerous, it stands to reason that motorcycles are even more dangerous.

It doesn't matter that I will die in a motorcycle accident.

However, I also think that 'the incidence of accidents that cause death to others by motorcycle is low for elderly people.

First of all, if you are riding a motorcycle, there is no way (structurally speaking) that you can mistakenly step on the gas pedal and brake.

If your dementia is advanced enough to cause the throttle to malfunction, you will not be able to ride a motorcycle first.

However, there is a risk of motorcycles crashing into buildings and pedestrians.

So, it is possible for a motorcycle to injure a person -- but I don't think there are that many cases where the motorcycle is the aggressor and kills or injures (except for the idiots on the road).

So, I did some research, but I haven't found any data on accidents caused by motorcycle assault (if you know of any, please let me know the URL).

-----

Nevertheless, I do believe that a motorcycle driven by a rider who has lost cognitive function is quite scary.

Besides, there is no way to avoid a motorcycle that is going the wrong way. I would definitely hit the rider.

It would be awful if I were made to be the perpetrator of such an accident.

I think this would qualify as a "runaway old man," which is even worse than a running idiot.

So, this is a social trade-off (between the availability of transportation for the elderly and the occurrence of traffic accidents).

Further study is needed, however,

"Motorcycles as a means of transportation for the elderly"

I am hopeful that this paradigm may be one of the possible futures.

-----

The main argument comes in.

Can anyone recommend a bike that gives me the same feeling as the "DT-125"?

Would you like to give you a picture of my riding on the bike I bought?

Who wants it?

Last Friday, I was late for a lecture due to a personal injury accident on the Odakyu train.

I left with almost an hour to spare, but there was nothing I could do while the train stopped with me trapped inside.

I am proud to say that I understand personal injury on the railroad.

But - I'm still angry

Even now,

"The responsibility for any personal injury, dead or alive, lies with the person who caused it"

I think no responsibility of train companies, if only they are properly compliant with the MLIT's guidance on the installation of platform doors.

-----

I know that it is "deathly" difficult to predict the recovery of operations after a personal injury event.

Even so, I would like them to open real-time train location information published in a CUI (command-based interface) if possible.

If GPS information is not possible, closed section information or station standby information is acceptable.

I will not tell the railroad companies to 'publish on the Web' or 'make an app' -- that can be left entirely to the private sector (including me).

As long as the data is made available to the public, traffic engineering students will create applications on their own, even if they are left alone.

You can bet on that.

If they can use that application to write their thesis, it's a win-win.

If there is data there, whether it is CUI or whatever, we are trained to parse something, we are trained to parse something.

-----

Well, to summarize the above story,

'For my (Ebata's) sake alone, disclose the real-time location of the train after the personal injury accident'

It sounds as if I am saying that.

Still, if a train company can't carelessly say a projected timetable recovery time--

They should only disclose "real-time" data from the time of the accident to the time the accident is resolved, and then throw the rest to private companies (or students, etc.) to avoid their responsibility.

When the earthquake strikes, not only will supplies not come, but also water and gas will not come.

Even if you want to get some information, you cannot use the TV because there is no electricity. Not to mention the Internet. Smartphones are just a matter of time.

I am getting a hand-cranked generator.

The only remaining means of obtaining information is a radio. Still, the radio I bought a few years ago has probably stopped working because the batteries are leaking (that thing is no good unless you turn it on regularly).

However, some radios do not require a power source and work semi-permanently.

"Germanium Radio."

Radio waves from the receiving antenna are detected using a germanium diode (rectifier), extracting the audio signal. This means no power supply is required; simply connecting the antenna and speakers (or headphones) is all that is needed to operate.

It is used for AM broadcasts, which are easier to detect, but NHK radio broadcasts are the only reliable source for disaster information.

(I was surprised that some people are trying out the powerless FM radio.)

One of the reasons I pay NHK subscription fees is this "ongoing investment in disaster information infrastructure."

In my opinion, the NHK subscription fee paid by my family is a kind of insurance premium, and in Japan, a disaster-prone country, I believe it is well "paid for."

-----

I think a Germanium radio could be commercialized and sold, but I have not found one.

(There are kits for children's science, but I can't find an adequately packaged product.)

Well, it is not going to be very profitable.

I would stick that radio following the fire alarm in the ceiling.

-----

Integrating NHK Radio 1 and 2 is a good idea, but the total conversion to an FM station should be well thought out.
