先日、長女(高1)と外食した時、
A few days ago, when I go to lunch with my senior daughter, she asked me
「パパは、『ファウスト』を読んだことある?」
"Papa. Have you read "Faust" before?"
と尋ねられました。
江端：「戯曲は、ちょっとな・・・。クサいし、読み難いし。しかし、なんで、また？」
Ebata: "Not yet. I don't like a book of drama, because of many exaggerated statements and hard to read. But why do you ask me that?"
長女：「『かんばる』ですら、ファウスト読んでいた」
Daughter:" Even "Kanbaru" read "Faust""
江端：「『かんばる』って、神原駿河か？」
Ebata: "It means "Kanbaru Suruga"?"
長女：「そう」
Daughter: "Yes"

神原駿河とは、西尾維新先生の、『物語』シリーズの登場人物の女子高生です。
"Kanbaru Suruga" is a female high school student, a character of "Monogatari-serise" written by Mr.Nishio Ishin.
最近、江端家では、私が、『物語』シリーズの全書蒐集を宣言して、次女がすごい勢いで、読破を続けています。
Recently, I declared the whole volume collection of the series, and the junior daughter continues reading by great force.
長女も、その影響で、読み始めたようです。
The senior daughter also seemed to begin to read under the influence.

江端：「いや、別に、フィクションの登場人物が、どんな本を読もうとも、気にすることは・・・」
Ebata: "You don't have to care, what a kind of book the character in the fiction read"
長女：「パパは、『かんばる』が、特別な女子高校生に見える？」
Daughter:" Do you think that Kanbaru is a special female high school student?"
江端：「確かに、ファウストを読む女子高生 ―― というか、高校生は一定数はいると思うよ」
Ebata: "No. I think some female ... not only female but male students read "Faust""
長女：「やっぱりそうか」
Daughter:" I was right after all"
江端：「ただ、彼女らが、その本を『楽しく読んでいるか』どうかには、疑義あるけどね」
Ebata: "But I think that there is a question whether they read the book happily"
長女：「？」
Daughter:"?"
