There is something called "kick-out rooms."

Gather them in one room and give them no work -- but keep paying them.

This room means that the company can avoid illegality, while at the same time psyching up the employee and forcing him or her into termination.

(Recently, there has been a judicial ruling that the actions of such companies are "illegal.")

-----

I had a similar experience when I was younger.

Although not quite as nuanced as "kick-out room," I have been on long-term assignment after getting caught up in a firestorm in a business unit.

A "flame room," so to speak.

But the site chief told me, 'Don't do anything'.

I understood well what this 'do nothing' means -- after all, it is 'politics'.

The field needs to produce a 'hard-working response' in the form of increased staffing.

However, it is also a tremendous risk to plunge an uninformed engineer into a project that is under fire.

This is because the cost (time, manpower) of training from scratch is ridiculously high, and in addition, amateurs on a flaming project can touch the system and plant fatal glitches.

Hence, what was needed in this case was "do-nothing personnel.

-----

So what I was doing was something I had wanted to do for a long time in the flame room.

「Linux

"Linux Kernel Modification"

Not many people can afford this technology. (Let alone the ability to do so.) This is because it requires an enormous amount of time.

The serenity of being alone in that flame room was a very luxurious time, as I recall now.

It is not often that I get such an opportunity to get the coding I like from morning to night on a monthly basis.

And I am aware that the skills I developed here have kept me fed for the next 10 years.

-----

The strength of software engineers lies in the fact that "there are a lot of things we can do (or more precisely, things we want to do) without being ordered by the company, and we can do them 'alone'.

Such techniques can be your own know-how and, hopefully, benefit your company.

From the viewpoint of "enjoyable 'kick-out room' life," acquiring programming skills is also recommended.

I am continuing to practice to give a one-hour lecture on AI technology in English for international students.

The basic rule for international conference presentations is "practice 30 times in advance," but as expected, I cannot spend 30 hours in a one-hour lecture, so I use the time to take a walk, take a bath, or use the restroom.

------

By the way, I have not changed my existing policy on English language by one millimeter as follows.

(Click on the copy and paste section below to jump to the column)

------

And, well, I must confess -- even with this bullshit English, I am somehow able to fulfill my role as an instructor of lectures using English.

Spending more time "communicating AI technology to foreign students" in "bullshit English" than "getting a high score on the TOEIC" in "accurate English"

At least, I think that it is meaningful.

I have given a one-hour lecture on AI technology in English for international students.

Naturally, this is the first story I discussed at the beginning of this lecture.

This is what I have been saying and will continue to say.

That aside.

Before the lecture, I had a short talk with the students.

The contents are as follows.

(1) They usually don't do programming.

(2) When they use AI technology, they use packaged software.

(3) They only did "Pascal" in a lecture in college.

Frankly, I was quite shocked to hear the story.

"Researchers who do research using AI technology do not code AI technology on their own"

This is the same situation as in the country I belong to (Japan).

And now that I know that the same situation exists outside of Japan, I honestly can't believe it!

("Pascal"?

("Pascal"? That's a 30 year old paradigm. At the very least, they should be taught Python.)

-----

'How are they supposed to understand AI technology without tracing and debugging the programs in the first place?' I could not hide my shock.

I remembered having such a conversation with a junior colleague once -- "For them, the output of packaged software is the final solution, and they don't think beyond that(*)," he said.

(*) I could not find the page in my column If you find it, please let me know.

-----

Programming education in our country's compulsory education process is simply a waste of time."

This "apprehension" of mine has now risen to the level of "certainty".

I have given a one-hour lecture on AI technology in English for international students.

"If I get even one "laugh" during the lecture, I win"

The lecture was based on the above criteria.

I stepped down from the podium and continued my talk, gesturing near the students' seats.

This is one of the things I learned at the IETF.

-----

-----

I think I got 'three laughs' in this lecture.

I won.

I had decided, "I will never forgive only the Yukijirushi Brand company (group)".

The next two incidents enraged me,

- Yukijirushi food poisoning case (June 2000)

- Yukijirushi seal beef counterfeit incident (October 2001)

These were cases of 'there is a limit to the disregard for human life'.

There are references to these incidents in my past diaries.

If the Yukijirushi brand products come on the market, I had the intention of 'making a fuss on my website to remind everyone vividly of the past incidents'.

-----

Today, I finished watching NHK's "Law of Failure: Two Incidents at Yukijirushi Brand" which I had recorded.

In the program, there was a detailed explanation of the Yukijirushi Brand Group's 20-year effort to regain trust and revitalize the company (although of course, I am sure there was some "staging" involved).

After watching this program, I was finally able to think, 'I can lower my raised fist'.

In part because it was partially in line with my thinking.

Still -- I do believe that "failures involving human life" need to be separated from "other failures".

Aside from that.

-----

Ebata: "You don't see Yukijirushi brand products in one store anymore, do you?"

Wife: "What? They are at home."

I was so surprised that I went through the contents of the refrigerator.

This is what I found.

She said 'other brands of butter are hard to find in stores'.

And my second daughter enjoys baking and seems to consume a lot of butter.

What can I say -- apparently, unbeknownst to me, the Ebata family was a supporter of the Yukijirushi Brand.

I'm afraid I've had nothing but lecture material for the past few days, but I'll continue today.

During the course of the lecture, I excused myself and continued it.

The following examples may conflict with political correctness and gender issues, but please let them skip the contents for today.

During the lecture, I put a phrase such as, "...people cheat on each other regardless of gender, but here I will use male cheating in heterosexual couples as an example".

The following examples may conflict with political correctness and gender issues, but please let them skip the contents for today.

-----

This material is just a re-purposed version of material I used a few years ago, but I have recently become more attentive to "political correctness" and "gender" issues.

Of course, I think that's right, but sometimes I feel a little tired.

I watched a BS1 special, "Close Look at the Self-Defense Forces: The Realities of Missile Defense".

I'm currently thinking a lot about how I'm going to live after I retire.

"I wonder if there are any openings for 'Senior(Elder) Self-Defense Officers'"

I am thinking about it.

That is quite seriously,

私は、

I,

(1)cannot run more than 500 meters

(2)cannot walk with objects heavier than 5 kg

(3)If you let me handle the firearms, I could cause casualties to our allies by misuse.

(4)If I were to camp out, I am confident that I would be a corpse on the second day.

On the other hand,

(1)build an improvised communication system in wartime (maybe).

(2)harassment of the enemy's strategic system (maybe).

(3) (If I can get proper training), I can learn about various types of cyber attacks faster than the average person (maybe).

As for working preferences,

'I want to work remotely from home and serve in cyber warfare only.'

I am aware that I am being very brazen.

However, I am not insulting the SDF people, I am just really hoping that they will use "this half-assed IT senior" as a defensive force and use it to their advantage.

-----

I wonder myself how the former head of the university's self-governing dormitory (who deserted during his term of office) came up with this idea.

If I had to give one reason, I would say it is the influence of this series of articles.

I feel that now that I have the habit of reading figures such as "the number of SDF personnel, the quantification of conventional forces, and the ratio of forces in each country," I am able to see the "reality" of war.

I was a young man when I was talking about national defense without knowing that level of numbers -- well, I think I "played my part properly" in that.

The youth is an important protagonist of Clausewitz's "trinity" of "1. the people = in charge of instinct = in charge of the passion and enthusiasm of war(?)".

To be honest, a young man who does not have a rebellious spirit against war and power--I would say, "If you are such a youth, stop being the youth immidiately"

During a remote meeting in the morning, the doorbell rang, and when I responded, she started with a lengthy greeting, so I thought, "It is that" and I did my usual response.

I shouted, "Tell me what you need!"

Simply put, what they say just "Registered mail" or "Courier".

I don't have time.

So, "Sales" or "Religion" from the beginning, that's fine.

If they say that, the response takes only a few seconds -- I just say, 'No, thank you,' and hang up the intercom.

Later, I looked in the mailbox and found a postcard titled "Invitation to Bible Study".

This time, it seemed to be "religion".

Still, I thought, it was reckless of her to visit this Ebata family in this town for missionary work.

-----

By the way, I would accept a request to be a "lecturer" for a Bible study group.

Let me give you a quantitative evaluation of God.

Continuing from last week, I have also been giving a lecture at the university today.

"Maybe I have already been able for "lecturing in English"?"

So I decided to practice for today's lecture about half as much as the previous one.

-----

In conclusion, 'I was conceited'.

I wonder how often they come across lectures in English that are this bad.

Subjects and predicates were being turned upside down, the passive voice was being used in an odd way, important keywords were not appearing, I was making up random coined words, and I was just a mess.

Well, there was only the momentum of the voice and exaggerated movements, however, I would like to believe that only "enthusiasm" was conveyed to the students -- I want to believe that.

-----

After all,

'Those who is not loved by English will never be loved by English'

Let's give it up, everyone.

All I(we) can do is to "memorize completely" the content of the one-hour lecture.

Don't expect "miracles" such as the possibility of a "resourceful" English response, etc.

Currently, the overwriting of the memory that "TOKYO 2020 was an event of corruption and collusion" is underway to great acclaim.

I think there were many inspiring scenes in TOKYO 2020 (although it was held in 2021), but I, for one, can't remember many of them.

Well, personally, I think "that corona infection countermeasure - the 'bubble method' - was brilliant" - as an engineer.

-----

TOKYO 2020 is also vividly remembered before its start.

There was even an Agatha Christie-esque incident in which the four people who had worked so hard to organize the Olympics "all disappeared" before the Olympics were even held.

- Former Prime Minister Abe resigns due to ill health.

- Former Tokyo Governor Inose resigns over money problems.

- Former JOC President Takeda resigns over money issue

- Former Prime Minister Mori resigns over derogatory remarks about women.

I think TOKYO2020 was a very rare event, in which the "before and after" are more memorable than the TOKYO2020 event itself.

By the way, this is my personal opinion.

There must have been some great scenes.

Many Japanese must have been impressed.

It's just that "I" have forgotten.

On the other hand, I believe that there are more than a few people like me.

Well, in that sense, I still think that this corruption and collusion 'must be sinful'.

-----

Ebata: "So now I'm remembering 'TOKYO2020', what do you remember?"

Wife: "Well...maybe the 'Olympics bubble'."

Come to think of it, my wife and my second daughter were making a small fortune working part-time as receptionists at the Olympic venues.

I am more sensitive than most people to words like "burden of proof".

Because I am truly offended by the fact that "anyone who criticizes my column says what they like without even breaking a sweat.

Anyone who wants to reject my argument has an obligation to construct a counterargument with the same level of effort as I do -- this is the burden of proof.

This burden of proof principle is too harsh on the side of victims of sexual crimes, for example.

Nevertheless, I believe that the principle of burden of proof is absolute.

-----

Recently, there seems to be a dispute between Sanae Takaichi, Minister of Economic Security Affairs, and Hiroyuki Konishi, a member of the House of Councilors of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, regarding this "burden of proof".

At first, I thought that the administrative documents of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications were like the minutes of a meeting in a company.

In the company where I work, the minutes are checked by all parties involved after they are prepared.

We don't want anyone to say later, 'That's not true.

However, following up on this case, it appears that the process for creating "administrative documents of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications" is apparently a different process than that of these "minutes".

That is why I am seriously confused as to 'which side has the burden of proof' in this case.

If anyone knows any columns or other articles that interpret this case completely without subjectivity (emotions, etc.) and only with legal theory, please introduce them to us.

-----

For me, the materials released by the government must assume 'absolute objectivity' or I will be in trouble.

("Administrative text" may be different from "official text". Please let us know about this area too)

When I write my columns, I rely on reports published by the administration for quite a few parts.

If the credibility of this official document is shaken, my column's credibility will be in tatters as a result of the collateral damage.

I received yesterday the report that I had previously requested from "Dr. Shibata of Run Over".

I've skimmed through it, and I'm excited about it, and I'd like to jump right into the writing process immidiately -- but I'm hopelessly short on time at the moment.

I have a conference paper to write, a transfer order for the next term, and our car broke down, and to top it all off, I have to prepare for a lecture at the university

In addition, my eldest daughter has contracted corona (she is in a different residence).

I am currently writing a paper on a search report for the past 40 years or so on a technology, but it is a difficult task.

This is because old information is hard to come by.

For example, if I am trying to collect books from the 1990s, I will not find them in libraries.

Technology is constantly being updated, so it goes without saying that it is desirable to replace it with the latest books, but it is troubling to find research on the past.

I am impressed.

It is this difficult to go back just 40 years in the past. The difficulty of researching documents more than 10 times that long ago is unimaginable.

Not to mention the style of writing, the letters are different from the present.

In this case, recent character recognition technology has greatly improved the literacy rate of documents that are more than several hundred years old.

It is a struggle for my research, but I feel fun to get a bird's eye view of how the world of technology is moving left and right with the trends.

It is because it is easy to know how researchers around the world are "chasing" their idols (the latest technological trend).

It is the "dancing buzzword".

In my institute, the researcher who uses the PCs and devices is responsible for their management.

So every time there is an inventory of assets, I get nervous to see if any equipment is missing.

In my case, I have fairly small pieces of equipment, such as GPS loggers, board computers, and small cameras, and I sometimes forget where I put these things.

This "forgetting where to put it" is quite scary.

This is because I will have to search all over the institute.

Today, I have disposed of many pieces of equipment, including these small devices and others, all at once.

-----

To avoid the "fear of having it," I should "throw it away (dispose of it) before I lose it.

In addition, it is important to "hold off on buying" any device that I want to acquire.

Thanks to the implementation of this over the past two to three years, the number of assets that were at one time close to 100 has been reduced to a dozen or so at present.

It is becoming much easier psychologically.

-----

Well, I think this can be called "end-of-life" in the broad sense of the word.

Right now, I am surrounded by students who are excitedly engaged in "frantic job hunting".

I feel a little sorry for them.

Something I still don't understand.

- Method of deciding the agenda at the National People's Congress of China

I have no idea what exactly is being discussed and in what manner.

To begin with, is there such a thing as a "resolution of rejection" at this convention?

I have never seen them on the Japanese news.

I'm not sure what to look up on WikiPedia, etc.

I would appreciate it if you could point me to some good resources or books.

- Continuous standing ovation in the "U.S. General State of the Union Address"

It is clearly 'weird'.

It is uncomfortable as if I am being shown pure "flattery".

To put it another way, it is as sickening as "people dancing around in the front seats of a North Korean military parade, acting like crazy and joyful people.

-----

For me, "Prime Minister's policy speech" at the opening of the Diet is just right.

I think anyone who unleashes a loud, ungraceful yell is a lowlife, but it's a lot better than a standing ovation.

I wonder if "Gundam" would be that much better...definitely "Heavy Objects" is better than "Gundam"?

I am coding while reviewing "Heavy Objects" with the thought.

I did a little research and found that this story has already appeared -- or rather, "frequently appears".

I think this is a sign of "elderly people repeating the same story over and over again".

-----

As I've recently discovered, I can work with music or animation playing while I work on a trial-and-error task (for me, it's trial-and-error) such as coding.

But columns, reports, and patent specifications are not good for that. Classical or environmental music seems to be better.

However, both are long hours of work.

It may come as a surprise to you, but the key to this kind of work is

-- To be lazy, not focused.

If I work continuously in intensive mode, fatigue will surely be conveyed to the next day, be accumulated, and eventually collapsed (or worse, hospitalization).

This is what a "senior" is.

-----

So I want to say this out loud.

You may or may not get married, but if you do decide to get married, you'd better find a partner as early as possible (and be prepared to get down on your knees in the mud).

Births, also (I was about to write, but this issue is too sensitive, so I omitted it), and

And if you are going to pursue recurrent education while working, you should start as early as possible.

-----

There is a definite difference between the study around 18-22 years old and the study of seniors.

It is quite "painful" to have to incorporate "fatigue" into my schedule every day.

"this is a book written for me"

Today, I continue our "burden of proof" series too.

I have mentioned several times in the past that I used to attend law seminars at my own expense, and one of the most surprising stories I heard was

"The difference between the burden of proof for the plaintiff and the defendant in a criminal case trial"

To put a civil case trial in a nutshell, it is a "personal v.s. personal" dispute.

In contrast, a criminal trial is a "state v. individual" dispute.

This is not a good start to the game.

This is because the state (the prosecution) is by far the strongest party in criminal cases.

-----

State: "a professional investigative team (police)," "a group of legal experts specializing in attacks (prosecutors)," "state-of-the-art scientific means of investigation, and ample funds to staff them."

Personal: Basically, "personal private property".

It is like a "nuclear missile v.s. defendant's personal suicide attack with a bamboo spear," so to speak.

-----

Hence, in criminal trials, the following rules are based on the "overwhelming advantage of the prosecution".

The procesution must complete the followings,

(1) without contradiction,

(2) perfectly,

(3) with rock-solid evidence and login that will never be broken, no matter how they is attacked, and

(4) the responsibility to make it clear in court.

The prosecution must complete so much work to win the case.

On the other hand, if the defendant can point out a tiny fraction of the above, say "1%" or "0.01%" of discrepancies or discrepancies, then they "win".

In the law seminar, this was explained with the phrase,

"The defendant wins if he or she can 'shake' the logic constructed by the prosecution, even by just 1mm"

This may seem like a huge advantage for the defendant, but remember - the defendant is dealing with a "nuclear missile" called the state.

In other words, the retrial in the Hakamada case was "shaked" the logic of the prosecution by the "1%" or "0.01%"

(Note that I will not address the merits of this case today.)

-----

As prosecutors backed by state power, "fabricate" is a piece of cake.

Therefore, high moral standards are required on the part of prosecutors, but there are limits to what human beings can do after all.

The assumption that 'he is definitely the culprit' is bound to occur.

To begin with, the conviction rate in Japanese criminal trials is 99.9%.

This is a sickening enough number without looking at it statistically.

In other words, if you are charged in a criminal court, you will almost certainly be convicted.

-----

So, what we need to do, in such a helpless way, is

"To continue to be a "small citizen" who does not attract the attention of state power"

This is the only choice.

-----

The reason I introduce myself at drinking parties by saying, "I have been trying to be a 'small citizen' my whole life," is not just to get a laugh.

...and then I realized at the page

'What's the difference between Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the U.S. invasion of Cuba?'

Both are the same in that they both violate the sovereignty of other countries and invade militarily for the purpose (pretext) of homeland defense.

'What's the difference between a Russian missile strike in Ukraine and a U.S. bombing of North Vietnam, and in what way?'

It is the same in that it is a conspiracy to create a regime in another country that is good for one's own country.

(I believe that a similar use case could be made for the former Japanese military, but I am limiting myself to the "Cuban Crisis" in this case.)

-----

However, that does not "justify" or "offset" the current Russian invasion of Ukraine.

I think 'Russia or the U.S. are both to blame.

However, this time, as in the Cuban Missile Crisis, there is no "reason" that everyone can agree on, such as "nuclear missiles secretly deployed in Ukraine aimed at Russia," so I think that Russia has little (too little) "righteousness" to speak of.

If Russia had the equivalent of the EXCOMM conference convened during the Cuban Missile Crisis, the current Russian invasion of Ukraine might not have happened -- but who knows.

-----

At least there is at least one person in Russia today who is seriously considering the

"nightmare of NATO forces avalanche on the Russian border, targeting Russia's natural resources"

I myself honestly think, 'I can't say there is no such possibility.

If you look at history textbooks, you will see many such things.

In fact, I even believe that "that is all that is written in history textbooks".

-----

For example, if a vein of earth was discovered within Japan's domestic or territorial waters that could provide more than half of the world's energy,

"China, Russia, or the U.S. invades Japanese land or territorial waters"

I am convinced of that scenario.

I am willing to put my life on the line for this certainty alone.

Why?

I am not sure why, because as far as I know, there has been no exception to this in our history.

I think this is the essence of web targeting, but I also think it's a pretty scary story when I think about it.

Looking at this from a different perspective, I can envision a situation in which I do not receive news about

"videos of customers causing trouble at restaurant chains" or, in the worst case scenario, "missiles flying over Japan"

The term "information gap" seems to be another example of this.

"If you post a video that is harmful to public health, you will be socially sanctioned (or perhaps we should say socially lynched(*)"

Such incidents have been and are rotten.

(*) Lynching is a private punishment, so "social lynching" is a figurative contradiction.

This level of information is something that anyone who watches the news on TV would know.

Nevertheless, many people are scratching their heads at the fact that, time and again, similar incidents are being repeated.

I am not wondering otherwise.

-----

Four individuals have been identified and arrested in the recent Kaiten Sushi case.

In comparison, there are 3.3 million high school students and 2.92 million college students today. Let's say roughly 6.2 million.

4 ÷ 6200000 = 0.0000065.

The ratio of the person who caused this incident is one to 1.55 million.

In other words, the four of them who caused the Kaiten Sushi incident are EXCELLENT and AMAZING, the "1 in 1,550,000 'super low elite'".

To judge the entire 6.2 million young people for the actions of such a super-elite -- that is, to any degree, disrespectful to the young people.

Conversely, I can assure you that the social common sense of our country's youth is extremely sound.

The fact that such incidents make the news is in itself a compliment to their high moral character.

That aside.

-----

This is a hypothesis, but 'they who caused the incident, did they not even watch the newspapers, or even the TV news?' This is what I mean.

The new currency (value that can be converted into numerical values) called "buzz" is described below, so I will omit it this time.

In short,

"I think there is not much difference in terms of "information gap" between them, who caused the fire incident, and me, who did not know that Japan won the WBC"

Well, in my case, it would be mere "ignorance", but they are decidedly different in that they add "criminal(*)" to the mix.

(*) After being indicted and convicted in a criminal case, though.

I am going to watch "PSYCHO-PASS PROVIDENCE THE MOVIE" as well.

Thanks to this animation, I have learned a lot.

_ https://wp.kobore.net/%e6%b1%9f%e7%ab%af%e3%81%95%e3%82%93%e3%81%ae%e5%bf%98%e5%82%99%e9%8c%b2/post-9510/

Well, let's leave that aside.

-----

When I was attending a law seminar, I read the "Industrial Property Law (Industrial Property Law) Verbatim Commentary" and other lectures on special laws (patent law), which are part of the Civil Code, and was amazed at the multiple interpretations of the various laws and their operation.

I was also impressed by the process by which what is most reasonable and supported by many legal scholars and practitioners of the law for various use cases becomes what is called "settled law.

"Law is like "mathematical proof" or "programming a system"

When I realized that, for the first time in my life, I thought that the law was "beautiful".

I think my faith in the idea of the "rule of law" occurred at that time -- even though I was already almost 40 years old.

-----

Akane Tsunemori, the protagonist of PSYCHO-PASS, also seems to have an absolute belief in the "rule of law".

However, I'm not sure about the process by which this belief arises -- or it doesn't seem to be depicted in the animation or film.

Since Akane Tsunemori is one of the elite of the elite, she might have been able to understand the "aesthetics of the rule of law" without going through the muddled study process that I went through.

However, for a mediocre like me, who can only understand the subject through the process of study, if I don't understand this part of the story, I can't get close to the feelings of the main character at the moment.

-----

Perhaps if I read the novel, I might understand that.

So I pushed the button to order it.

I do programming, whether it is for work or as a hobby.

And there are two things that separate "programming I like" from "programming I hate".

"Specifications and delivery date"

です。

is.

------

If I add functions as I wish with my own ideas without any deadline , programming can be called "entertainment".

Probably, it is the same feeling that so-called gamers, including not only netgames but also Go, Shogi, etc., have when they play games.

Well, I don't know because I am not a gamer, but I think that since the world is so enthusiastic about it, perhaps "games are great fun".

I may be missing out on life because I don't understand the value of the game.

Well, let's put that aside.

-----

On the other hand, if someone else dictates the specifications and there is a deadline, programming turns into "hell".

Well, I guess it's the same in any job.

Well, a program that I created for my "entertainment" can turn into "hell" when it is converted into a job.

"Am I "entertaining" to generate "hell"?"

Sometimes I feel sad when I think about it.

-----

However, I stand in the same position as in "one kitchen knife, wrapped in bleached cotton...",

With a single piece of home-made programming code, I'm going to get the "money" from the research fund.

I live a senior life without honor day by day.

Basically, I believe that 'there is nothing the state (power) can't do if it wants to.

For example, if I am targeted for assassination by the state, my death is certain.

Even if I were to turn back an assassin, the state would send the next assassin.

Unless the state changes its policy, the assassins will be sent back again and again, and there is no way to escape them.

The current furore about the "Chinese government trying to extract personal information from TikTok" is still beyond a suspition.

However, if the Chinese government wants to do it, they "will" do it.

This is a definite matter.

-----

On the other hand, the fact that information was extracted by the Chinese government has not yet been revealed in the previous case of Huawei's telecommunications equipment.

(Since at least the technical verification should have been completed, it is possible that it is being kept undisclosed to the public and is being used as a bargaining chip between governments.)

Anyway, the United States is a country that can assume that there are weapons of mass destruction, launch a war on its own without a UN resolution, completely collapse its system, and then say with impunity, "We searched but found no weapons of mass destruction.

And I still remember the bitterness of the "Super 301 economic sanctions" unilaterally imposed on Japan in 1989.

-----

I was watching the US hearings on TikTok on the news, and I am sure that

"the incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII was also determined and implemented like this"

Now and then,

"Once they identify someone as an enemy, they can do whatever they want, without regard to laws, evidence, or anything else"

I think this is the DNA of the U.S. government.

I have many " drawbacks", but equally as many " weaknesses".

One of them is

"I can't stand silence."

When I see lovers eating in silence on a date, I think about many things.

(1) They are so much in tune with each other that there is not even a need for conversation.

(2) They share the policy that meals are for enjoying food and not for conversation.

(3) They have already run out of things to talk about, having talked too much in the dating process.

(4) They can't come up with a suitable story.

I have no idea if it is one of these or something else I can't think of.

-----

I wrote in this diary before, "-- Silence is violence in a presentation. Do you understand that?"

Likewise, to me, the silence in the middle of a date also feels like violence. so I think

"Don't be violent with your lover you're on a date with"

However, apparently, "topic" seems to be a major issue in human history, beyond the recent younger generations.

-----

You can Google "dating topics" to see how many people in the world are struggling with the topic itself (you'll get about 7.2 million hits).

And the worst case of "topic exhaustion" is "sexual harassment and para-harassment.

When you get stuck on a topic, it is "routine" to fall back on topics such as the other person's age, whether or not he/she has a girlfriend, where he/she is from, and what he/she does for a living.

Just as the exhaustion of food and energy causes wars, the exhaustion of topics causes harassment.

In my case, I usually try to avoid going in that direction by practicing to come up with stories (like this blog), but I am not sure if I am controlling it well.

-----

This, however, creates another problem.

"A case of a situation where Ebata speaks only"

It is a "1,000 knocks" situation, so to speak.

This, is a situation as bad as "silence".

Since conversation is communication, the number and duration of conversations, like a catch-all, must be equally divided.

In order to do this, the topics of conversation must be of sufficient quantity and content that the other party can expand on them with new material -- which is quite difficult.

-----

To sum up the situation,

"I don't attend drinking parties" or "I don't go on dates"

in addition,

"I make and have no friends," "give up on lovers, and take marriage out of the scope of their lives"

Sometimes I think this is a strategy that makes a lot of sense.

The following diary was uploaded yesterday.

I did a little research and found that there is something called "ToPick - an app that provides topics of conversation for drinking and dating".

This app could be used for phone conversations with a girlfriend, but it would be difficult to use it on a date.

As for the hearing interface,

"wear bone-conduction earphones and listen to the voice"

would help, but the input interface is a problem.

How do you give directions to your phone while on a date?

The development of "An app that keeps monitoring the conversation on your phone during the course of a date, and at the appropriate time, your phone will automatically provide a topic of conversation" should be needed.

However, this is well within scope with current technology.

-----

-- A future where both couples date wearing a talking-head app and bone-conduction earbuds.

Me, I think this future will appear "faster than simultaneous interpretation apps".

This is because the number of users is off the charts.

-----

I believe that this application will "overturn the existing concept of dating from the very foundation".

However, I do not yet know how it will be overturned.

"Can we achieve an equal opportunity for love that will break the unipolar dominance of love in the extrovert?"

or,

"Are we going to let the love gap widen to the point of hopelessness?"

It is very interesting.

I would like to hear your opinions as well.

I watched "Meltdown File.8 "Part 2: New revelations 12 years after the accident""

I guess I could call it "stupefaction".

I had to go through the experience of 'standing there, stunned, watching TV.

-----

I will summarize the gist of this program in three roughly different points.

(1) The water supply to the reactor that the firefighters literally "risked their lives" for accelerated the meltdown.

(2) "Venting" to reduce reactor pressure "should not have been done" at that stage

(3) However, (2) above caused the reactor pressure to drop, resulting in water being pulled up from the water reservoir, which was completely unexpected, and consequently cooling the dissolved fuel.

In other words -- the "best" choice at the time "led to the worst," and that "worst prevented further worsts" as a result.

For me, the biggest shock was, that,

"The situation that proceeded on its own, and then stopped on its own, completely beyond the intentions of the people controlling the system"

It is no exaggeration to say that this is a 'total defeat' for the engineers who control nuclear power.

-----

It is said that the power companies and the universities to which they outsource the operation of nuclear power plants conduct every conceivable accident simulation.

I know that the stress of coming up with such an accident scenario prior to conducting the simulation is an unimaginably painful task.

However, real accidents easily overcome such a huge number of simulation assumptions.

-----

As I have said in the past, control systems, whether for automobiles, airplanes, power plants, or rockets, gradually improve their safety and reliability through repeated failures.

However, only "nuclear power plants" cannot use this major principle of control systems.

Because, the return on failure is huge.

"Twelve years after the accident, 20,000 people are still living in evacuation shelters"

This is, of course, the tragedy of the current situation, however,

"In the worst case scenario of this accident, all of eastern Japan would have been a no-go zone"

No one can deny this.

-----

So I come to the same conclusion as usual.

I use ChatGPT on a daily basis.

I admit "It's a rare AI technology that could be really useful".

However, ChatGPT has a bad habit (at the moment) of "twisting answers even not knowing them" (although I'm getting pretty good at spotting them).

So I use it for double-checking when I have them talk about summaries of papers, etc.

-----

One application of ChatGPT that struck me was this one (jump to YouTube).

This is an interactive class for English conversation by ChatGPT.

I can catch a conversation on my phone and feel comfortable with that conversation.

It cannot be compared to some company's dumb ChatBot.

-----

For the first time in my life, I had a premonition of "AI out of business" -- the first victims will be language teachers.

Japan is the only country in the world where teachers who do not speak English teach English in an educational setting.

It is as ridiculous as someone who can't program AI technology talking about programming AI technology (Well, to be clear, I am making fun of them).

As the above video clearly shows, ChatGPT is much "better" than such teachers.

-----

I, previously, have prophesied that the essence of English will cease to be "communication" and become merely an "interface".

Both the inside and outside of a human being are put together as "attributes" and then all of them are further passed through and the relationship between "that person" and "I" becomes a worldview governed only by the value of "is/is not worth it".

However, the language education function of ChatGPT has completely reduced this "interface worldview" of mine to a lower level.

In other words, by "having a machine (computer) teach you a language," you have acquired "a means of communicating with a machine (computer).

It means that the significance of "human" intervention in English communication has been completely lost.
