Last year, I ordered 1 yellowtail and 1kg of boiled crab.

The year before last, I bought 1kg of yellowtail and ate yellowtail sashimi all through the New Year, which was unexpectedly popular with my family.

One yellowtail is more than three times as much as last year, which is indeed too much. I don't think we will be able to eat it all in the three days of the New Year, but I'm not too worried because yellowtail has many uses.

-----

I'm learning how to process fish by watching YouTube.

Or rather, 'cooking while watching a video' is becoming the norm these days.

Thanks to this, I rarely make mistakes in cooking.

In terms of cooking, services that stick to "recipes" have become sluggish, and have been mostly established as "video services".

It may no longer be necessary for cooking to be "handed down from parent to child" (so-called "mother's cooking").

For home cooking, "Download from the Cloud" will not cause any problems.

-----

I don't think there is anyone who cares about "mother's taste" nowadays, but if there is someone who wants to, he or she should ask for help and pass on the technique by himself or herself.

It has nothing to do with women or men, age, married or unmarried.

"People who want to benefit will sweat" - that's all there is to it.

The New Year's card software that I have been using since 2001 was discontinued about 10 years ago, and there is no successor software or company.

I had been using the software deceitfully, but I felt that I was in danger, so last year, I built a New Year's card addressing system that linked Word and Excel.

The problem is.

"I forgot how to use it, so I haven't been able to send out any New Year's cards yet"

This is a very dumb thing to say at the beginning of the New Year, but please accept my apologies.

-----

By the way, my wife continues to use the old New Year's card software.

She doesn't seem to be interested in learning new software at all.

However, she throws all the printing, etc. to me.

One of the best movies starring Sylvester Stallone is called "Rambo".

This is a battle-action film about a Vietnam War veteran who is unreasonably discriminated against in his home country, battles with sheriffs and pursued by the National Guard, and finally strikes back.

As a film dealing with a very serious social issue in the United States, it was quite a hit in Japan at the time.

In this series, there is "Rambo 3: The Angry in Afghan".

It was about Rambo supporting the Mujahideen (meaning "those who carry out jihad"), a resistance group against the Soviet Union (now Russia) that was invading Afghanistan at the time, and challenging them to fight against the Soviet army.

In the film, the line "A country with patriotic guerrillas cannot be conquered. We experienced it in Vietnam" appears in the film.

At the end of the film, there is a message that says, "This film is dedicated to all Afghan warriors

To sum it up quite roughly, the movie "Rambo 3" can be described as "a movie in which Rambo, an American citizen, supports the Taliban in Afghanistan.

I just checked, and you can also watch this movie on Amazon Prime.

Apparently, I am the only one who has a twisted perspective that links Rambo to the Taliban.

-----

Meanwhile, in the real world as well, Soviet troops have withdrawn from Afghanistan.

However, the resulting conflict between the Mujahideen led to a civil war and the rise of the Taliban.

The U.S. government is a country that has repeatedly had its security threatened by nations that it has previously supported militarily.

Whether it is the Vietnam War or the Gulf War, there is no shortage of cases where the U.S. has been attacked by its own troops because of the huge amount of weapons it has given to that country.

In that sense, Japan has been fortunate to have avoided this kind of situation because of its slow political decision-making (especially regarding the Self-Defense Forces).

"Isn't Japan the only developed country that hasn't had a domestic terrorist attack carried out by Islamic fundamentalists?"

So, I did some research.

U.S.A. -> (naturally) yes, France -> yes, U.K. -> yes, Germany -> yes, Italy -> yes, Italy -> yes, Canada -> yes (last June)(*)

(*)Source: International Terrorism Handbook 2021 | Public Security Intelligence Agency, etc.

However, I am afraid that my 30-minute research on the Internet above will be spread as "fact", so if I have misunderstood or misrepresented anything, please point it out to me by e-mail.

-----

My wife once scolded me for saying that the Ako Roshi incident (Chushingura) was like a "riot of local samurai.

Since then, I have tried to refrain from saying such expressions even if they come to my mind.

Last night, I was watching NHK's 2004 Taiga Drama "Shinsengumi! Special" (compilation), which was aired on NHK in 2004. and I thought,

""Shinsengumi" is like the Taliban of Edo Shogunate fundamentalists."

In the first place, it is more vicious than the Taliban in that it is an organization that carries out killings based only on the judgment of a private department without the approval of the authority (Edo Shogunate).

The Shinsengumi was a private military company (PMC) that was formed by those who resisted the Shogunate's order to disband the group and was funded by the private fortune of the Aizu domain lord, Matsudaira Yoho.

In that same sense,

""Rurouni Kenshin" is also a member of the PMC taken over by the Satsuma and Choshu clans, a terrorist with rare abilities."

However,

If I mention the above interpretation of "Shinsengumi", my wife will stop talking to me.

If I mention the above interpretation of "Rurouni Kenshin", my senior daughter will not be able to talk to me.

This is a sure thing. Hence, I won't say anything they don't want to hear

After the three New Year's days, today is the first day of work.

Today in the Ebata household, I'm the only one who works from home.

Except for a trip back home to support my mother's transfer to the hospital at the end of the year, the extent of my travel during this vacation season was

(1) Walking to and from a super public bath located 15 minutes away (only once)

(2) New Year's visit to a nearby shrine with my wife.

(3) Walking around town (4.5km) with watching downloaded NetFlix movies on my iPad (daily) to get rid of lack of exercise.

This was a perfect example of local behavior.

But I didn't feel like I was "bored" -- I was in front of the computer all the time, struggling with papers and programs (Golang).

-----

I am planning to start a new series this month.

The theme is "A New Theory of Action for 'Engineers Who are not be Loved by Money'".

I look forward to working with you again this year.

I have written about "self-aware words".

I think it's true that these terms 'make the listener feel uncomfortable,' but the words we come to use in our office, come up in our daily lives.

-----

At the end of last year, I had gone back to my parents' home to support my mother's hospital transfer.

The thing that I had been praying for a month, "Please don't come," came that day.

"Cold wave and snowfall said to be once in several years"

The day before, I kept checking the landscape of the garden late into the night, but on the day of the event, it was completely covered with snow.

My mother's transportation would be done by a care cab, but I had rented a car the day before to handle the huge amount of paperwork and moving the hospital supplies both at the source hospital and destination hospital.

I had brought general-purpose tire chains, but I am someone who knows how scary it is to drive in the snow (I almost killed my oldest daughter once).

The moment I saw the snow, I decided to change my plan from Plan A to Plan B (travel by train).

The snowfall had messed up the train schedule, but we managed to make it in time.

-----

At the hospital where I was transferred, I was discussing with a nurse about the delivery of items for my mother's transfer.

Ebata: "As for the delivery, I'm going to think of a 'strategy' to see if I can bring it in by car today or have my sister bring it in later."

Nurse: "'Strategy'..."

She giggled, and I felt very embarrassed.

-----

I'm not a military man, but even in civilian laboratories (and probably in ordinary companies) "strategy" is a term that is commonly used verbally.

However, I will be very, very careful from now on, .

If I had said something like "strategy," I would have died of embarrassment.

Lately, I've been concerned that my junior daughter, who just started college, but my senior daughter, who just started working, is losing her rhythm of life.

Specifically, (1) I don't see them eating, (2) I don't know when they wake up and go to bed, and (3) they seem to be sick a lot.

Of course, I don't have the vision to say, "They are girls".

I just want to say, "Hey! Don't bring the coronavirus into our house!"

Well, no matter how careful we are, when you get infected, we get infected. However, it's always better not to get infected, of course.

-----

I've been thinking about the above, however,

I wonder if I was the same way when I first started working.

Well, compared to this story, my senior daughter might be better off.

Tokyo is a city that is vulnerable to snow, especially in the South Tama area,

"Snowfall in South Tama area = Snowfall in Tokyo 23 wards X 10"

This is a solid rule of thumb.

To put it simply, "if there is 3cm of snow in the city center, the area around our house will get 30cm of snow.

So when I left my house, I had to go out through the snow, fully equipped with boots and cold weather gear, and as a result, I would be conspicuous at Shinjuku Station, which was the fate of residents in the Tama area.

-----

However, this reversal seems to have occurred with regard to yesterday afternoon's snowfall.

Yesterday's snowfall and today's icy roads have caused many traffic disasters in the 23 wards of Tokyo.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway has been congested for more than several hours, traffic accidents have been frequent, many pedestrians have fallen, and many people seem to have been injured.

All day today, the news programs have been reporting on the chaos in the city center.

In contrast, there is not much snow in the South Tama area, and although there is some snow damage and freezing, the situation is not as dire as in the city center.

This is a really rare case.

-----

The Tama area is not well known not only among Tokyo residents but also throughout Japan.

The name "Tokyo Metropolitan Government" in poor taste makes the explanation cumbersome and uncomfortable.

Many people have never heard of the name of the nearest station, or even the name of the train line.

-----

As a resident of the South Tama area, I, who have had a lot of bad experiences with snowfall,

watched the current video of 'the city center is in chaos' and said, "I am truly sorry for their loss" with sitting on a chair in the living room, a cup of coffee in hand,

In particular, I would like to express my sincere regret for the video clips of Shinjuku and Shibuya.

-----

While the news reporter was reporting on the snow scene in the city center, saying "It's beautiful",

People in the city center don't know that we are out of breath with wading through deep snow to open up a trail.

I used to work part-time delivering newspapers on a Suber Cub while preparing the exam. When I became a college student, my sister gave me a YAMAHA DT-125 (motocross bike).

Now, our senior daughter is addicted to motorcycles and has obtained a medium-sized license.

As a result of my wife's concern about accidents and my concern about the bike's thermal protection, my senior daughter has purchased a "big scooter" type and is riding it around on a daily basis.

-----

The other day, when my senior daughter was using our family's car, my wife asked me to pick up my junior daughter from the station.

Ebata: "No car here"

Wife: "Why don't you two ride back on (senior daughter's) bike?"

People who don't ride motorcycles don't understand how 'reckless' this is.

First of all, riding a motorcycle that we do not ride on a regular basis is dangerous in itself, and two ride back on is even more dangerous.

"If you're willing to turn a family of four into a family of two in an instant, I'm willing to do it"

I told her, and she seemed to give up.

Motorcycles are not that dangerous if you follow the rules and use the correct procedures, but they still have a much higher injury and death rate than cars.

That's why I can say that the idiots who are running around the streets in gangs and making noise are the worst idiots in the history of mankind.

That aside...

-----

I was influenced by the TV anime "Super Cub", but lately, my enthusiasm for motorcycles has been growing.

However, my wife has asked me to stop until my second daughter graduates from college, so I'm going to be patient for a while longer.

"Isn't a motorcycle a good option for my future retirement?

Sometimes, I thought it.

I definitely think I will have mobility problems in the future and also develop dementia.

On the other hand, I also remember well the dramatic deterioration of their QoL (Quality of Life) after my father and mother were robbed of their means of transportation (cars).

I believe that we have reached a social consensus that it is dangerous for the elderly to drive a car.

So I thought about

"Then how about elderly people driving motorcycles?"

と。

-----

"Ebata. Aren't you a real idiot?" I can almost hear you saying.

If cars are dangerous, it stands to reason that motorcycles are even more dangerous.

It doesn't matter that I will die in a motorcycle accident.

However, I also think that 'the incidence of accidents that cause death to others by motorcycle is low for elderly people.

First of all, if you are riding a motorcycle, there is no way (structurally speaking) that you can mistakenly step on the gas pedal and brake.

If your dementia is advanced enough to cause the throttle to malfunction, you will not be able to ride a motorcycle first.

However, there is a risk of motorcycles crashing into buildings and pedestrians.

So, it is possible for a motorcycle to injure a person -- but I don't think there are that many cases where the motorcycle is the aggressor and kills or injures (except for the idiots on the road).

So, I did some research, but I haven't found any data on accidents caused by motorcycle assault (if you know of any, please let me know the URL).

-----

Nevertheless, I do believe that a motorcycle driven by a rider who has lost cognitive function is quite scary.

Besides, there is no way to avoid a motorcycle that is going the wrong way. I would definitely hit the rider.

It would be awful if I were made to be the perpetrator of such an accident.

I think this would qualify as a "runaway old man," which is even worse than a running idiot.

So, this is a social trade-off (between the availability of transportation for the elderly and the occurrence of traffic accidents).

Further study is needed, however,

"Motorcycles as a means of transportation for the elderly"

I am hopeful that this paradigm may be one of the possible futures.

The main argument comes in.

Can anyone recommend a bike that gives me the same feeling as the "DT-125"?

Would you like to give you a picture of my riding on the bike I bought?

Who wants it?

I love Japanese animation, but I've never been called an "anime otaku" before.

When I talked to my second daughter about this reason, she said, 'Dad, I don't feel like you're crazy about anime.

Ebata: "That's not true. For example, I think that I am crazy for 'Steins;Gate' and 'Steins;Gate Zero'.

Daughter: "You are prominent in certain content. Moreover, the degree of 'love' that can be verbalized in 'logic' is not enough for an 'otaku'."

Apparently, the only way to get people to call me "Otaku.", that

"I need a level of insanity where the world is complete only from my point of view, and the thoughts and common sense of others do not intervene"

She said that,

If I had to sum it up in one word, it would be "ultimate subjectivity".

It seems that I have to have a "crazy love for twisting the laws of physics and even the theorems of mathematics" to get the title of "Otaku.

Aside from that.

-----

In terms of my "objective love for anime", the starting point is "Space Battleship Yamato", and the next one would be "Urusei Yatsura".

The world of "Urusei Yatsura" is more than just a slapstick comedy, it was the first experience in my life that made me realize that no matter how hard I try, there is a talent that I will never reach.

It has now become my epithet.

"Hard work is no match for genius"

This is the first example of my epithet.

Nowadays, it has been changed to 'Do you need to "beat the genius"?'

Anyway, "Urusei Yatsura" was one of the most important guideposts in my life.

-----

I was surprised to hear that "Urusei Yatsura" will be adapted into a TV anime for the first time in about 36 years, since the TV anime that aired from 1981 to 1986.

The voice actor who will play this major role is...

"Morohoshi Ataru: Kamiya Hiroshi."

Indeed, I am convinced that only Mr. Kamiya is capable of taking on this major role in today's world of voice acting.

I'm sorry, but I don't know much about "Ram: Sumire Uesaka".

However, I was deeply moved by the beautiful voice of Fumi Hirano, the first Ram, when I found out that she was playing the role of Furuya (senior) in "Student Council Members".

Recently, I heard the voice of "Saeki (teacher)" in "Blue Period".

-- "Ram" has become such a calm, mature adult...

I was immersed in an emotion that I could not verbalize (and could not share with others).

I don't think I'm an "anime otaku," but there are some emotions in anime that I can only get from living long enough.

From the end of the year to the New Year, I've been paying attention to my weight changes (especially the heavier ones), and I was relieved when I made it through the last day within the acceptable range.

However, for the past few days, I've been struggling with an inexplicable weight gain.

Once I tried to see if I could explain my weight gain with "transient phenomena" but at this time I failed spectacularly.

I am sure that this case is not a very long delay constant of "7 days" -- I am sure of that.

However, I think it is reasonable to say that my body has become accustomed to the amount of food I eat at the end of the year, and I am still overeating.

Well, these days, I'm hungry anyway.

-----

I weigh myself once a day, targeting the time and place where I lose the most weight.

In order to do this, I have been working on various ways to get on the scale.

I went to the bathroom and took out everything I could.

Naturally, I was completely naked (except for my pants).

The first thing to do is to take the scales out into the hallway, let them cool down, reduce the sensitivity of the sensors.

I install the scales in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the wood on the floor.

When I get on the scale, bend over so that my center of gravity is outside the scale.

By counting backwards from the timing the scale gives me a definite value, I can generate a light single oscillating motion in my body to determine the lightest weight.

I have been fighting to "cheat the scales" every day by using various methods like that.

-----

My wife says to me, "If you're going to go that far, you shouldn't be on the scale".

As we all know, the "mental damage caused by the scale" is the most effective way to lose weight.

If you ask me, "Even if that's the case, what's the point of cheating the scales?"

------

No matter how brutal the murder, and no matter how consistent the prosecution, defense, and both sides are in finding the case--

A suspect in a murder case should be judged on the amount of sentence after the defense has exhausted all possible defenses.

Especially when it comes to the extreme penalty of the death sentence, we have to be given the maximum opportunity to defend ourselves, to say, like 'I can't defend myself any more'.

と。

-----

Therefore, if the court of "scales" establishes the charge of "my weight," then--

Every opportunity to defend "every effort to reduce weight (value)" should be exhausted.

I believe that

Last night, my mother suddenly passed away.

I took the first bullet train this morning, and today the funeral wake will start at 5:00 p.m, and the funeral will start at 8:30 a.m.tomorrow.

In the middle of the Corona disaster, we ask that you refrain from attending as much as possible and plan to hold a funeral service for a few people.

So, please understand that I may not be able to update my diary for a while.

I just finished the whole funeral event and came home to realize it.

Now, my parents are displayed as a couple of posthumous portraits in my parents' home.

During the Corona disaster, I asked for a minimum number of people to be held, but I had to accept the request to 'see the faces of my mother at the end'.

Well, thanks to that, I was able to learn a lot about my mother's birth story, as well as my childhood personality -- or rather, my "strategy.

-----

My mother was very strict with me and did not buy me what I wanted (toys, etc.).

And I heard that I was giving a presentation to my mother, 'rolling around on the floor and crying to get my demands through.

It was a final strategy against my mother.

On the other hand, I heard I was a quiet child who would not implement such a strategy on anyone.

I don't remember any of this story, but I must admit that it is an objective fact, since three people testified about it, while waiting at the crematorium.

-----

But -- one way to solve the problem is that a method of

"Arbitrarily exacerbate or inflame the problem to make it go away"

In other words, the solution I am using now has been cultivated by having a "virtual enemy", my mother.

I'm sure there are more than a few people who have been affected by this solution of mine.

"It's not my fault, but my mother's fault"

Today, I was convinced of it.

We had done the same thing with my father, and now I am doing the relay of the removal of my mother's name from the register with her death.

A journey through the life (and place) of a mother -- The bureaucratic cruise.

-----

I: "What am I doing this for?"

Sister: "It's to find our brothers and sisters we don't know."

In other words, if my father or mother has an "illegitimate child," that child will also have the right to be granted property.

If we don't "legally establish" that we don't have such a child, we won't be able to receive even the smallest amount of money in my mother's bank account!

Honestly -- it's a hassle, I think.

There are times when I think, 'I don't need that money.

However, if left unchecked, the remainder of the money will be collected by the treasury -- in other words, taken by the government.

It's perfectly fine if I don't get it, but it is absolutely unacceptable for the "state" to get it.

-----

In my case, just by thinking about it, driving all over Japan and going through the process of applying for a copy of the registry in a local area doesn't seem so "painful" to me.

It was 10 years ago that my mother was admitted to a geriatric health care facility.

This is the history of my mother's severe pain for the past ten years.

None of this falls under the current judicial "death with dignity" decision.

In the first place, my mother was not declared to die with dignity, so it is absolutely impossible.

After she stopped communicating with us, I had no idea what she was thinking.

-----

I would like to say one thing.

"Soon, the days of this torture will begin for you, too. And no one can escape from it"

In hindsight, it seems that my mother had two opportunities to stop this long torture from starting on her own.

One is "gastrostomy construction" and the other is "pacemaker installation.

These two things are the "wisdom" and at the same time the "curse" created by humanity.

Nevertheless, it was "my mother herself" who chose these two.

So - I don't need to worry about my mother anymore.

-----

But don't forget.

If you are unable to communicate, you will not be able to exercise your "right to choose death" at all (at least in the current judicial system).

This is an absolute fact.

The only person who can save you is yourself, and the opportunity is frighteningly difficult to grasp.

Last night and this morning, I had two companies come to my parents' house to give me an estimate for the removal of their belongings.

I'm not going to do anything until at least the 49th day memorial service is over, but I wanted to know the "scale" of the amount.

I had people from two different companies look at it, and the estimates were generally about the same.

I looked around to see if there was anything I could get.

-PC display

-Chainsaw

-Electric screwdriver

These were all things that I had brought in or purchased.

Incidentally, there were also some custom-made clothes left by my father.

However, the vendor assured me that none of the clothes would be traded. Only a few types of kimonos are traded for a small amount of money, they said to me.

-----

However, as a former furniture maker, my father's tables, writing discs, cupboards, etc., are still very solid, even from my point of view.

A huge number of beddings and other items would be useful in places where they are needed (refugee camps, etc.), but there is no way to transport them (for the price of transport, you can buy new ones).

In short,

"Most of the relics are destined to become garbage"

In the end, all that my father and mother left for us siblings was "memories".

However, we were able to share some worthwhile "memories".

Rather than being "heartbroken," I think the memories of having a good laugh with my sister and brother are priceless.

-----

The best part of this conversation with my sister about my father and mother was...

" We may be the descendants of the "Murakami Navy", a very eyebrow-raising story"

Murakami Suigun -- That's good, isn't it?

It is an independent and self-respecting fighting group that does not belong to the central power (the imperial family or the regent) and does not bow down to upstart powers (such as Oda Nobunaga).

This time, after talking with my sister, I've come to understand...

"Money is not the issue. Once we decide to fight, we will fight to the bitter end"

This seems to have been "the family style of the Ebatas".

I've done a lot of things in my life, but it seems that they are not my fault, but my "blood".

Yesterday, I finished the work I could do at the moment with the passing of my mother and came home.

There are still a lot of legal procedures to be completed, but for now, we are settled.

Aside from a series of funeral-related matters, my sister and I have been working together, and it still takes a lot of time and procedures.

Once again, I am exhausted by the tediousness of "post-mortem events".

I wonder if it would not be so easy to "finish the whole process in an instant with just one My Number card".

In fact, it seems that many people give up on inheritance and other procedures because of the hassle of these processes.

If the inheritance belongs to the national treasury, there are still many people who leave it as an empty house or vacant lot.

-----

So, I did some research, and it seems that even if you abandon your estate, you will forever be responsible for the management of vacant land and houses, as long as there is no one to transfer them to.

In other words, it's like a spirit behind you that will haunt you (and your children) forever.

This seems to be quite a social problem.

However, if you think about it the other way around, if you just want a place to live, without any consideration for convenience or remodeling...

"There are plenty of free houses with land all over Japan"

On the other hand, you might even 'get a house with land' and even 'get a gratuity'.

When I have to be homeless in the city, the strategy of "a house in the country on welfare (or pension)" has come into scope (forget about the maintenance and management costs).

-----

Back to the topic at hand.

Ebata: "Gathering evidence for inheritance and insurance seems like it could be a business in itself."

Sister: "That stuff has been around for a long time."

So I looked into it and found that it was the sole domain of lawyers, tax accountants, administrative scriveners, and banks and trust banks.

Well, that's true, isn't it? However, the price seems to be expensive.

This time, my sisters and I didn't want to cut costs, but also because we could estimate the amount of work to be done before we started, and we had a hunch that outsourcing would be more trouble than it was worth.

Most importantly, I didn't have the option of letting someone else take the last cruise of my parents' life.

"It's a pity that the Minamoto clan has fallen to descendants like you," (although he wasn't sure what "Minamoto" meant in his mind).

However, after listening to the story of the "Murakami navy" this time, my view has changed just a little bit (less than 1mm).

"If I am a descendant of the Murakami navy, I can still do my best"

It's a really trivial story, with not even a chance of a single pico, but I think it gave me a bit of courage.

-----

My father, when he was quite old, started his own woodworking company.

This time, I was shocked to learn from my sister that my father started his own business when he was the same age as me.

I am the son of a father who started his own business just before retirement and a mother who was a descendant of the Murakami navy. Why am I depressed here, nonetheless?"

I feel like I was given a (inexpressible) surge of courage.

# Of course, the voice of inner reason that says, 'No, that's just an illusion,' can be heard, so don't worry.

-----

That idiot at the beginning of the story who claimed to be a descendant of the Minamoto clan was a no-good, trashy human being, however,

Still, I think I understand now that 'whatever the truth of that phrase, it may have given him courage.

I think I have a passing understanding of cults and far-right and far-left terrorism.

I also know (from experience) the process by which personal anger can be justified within oneself and transformed into a murderous intent directed at a specific person.

In particular, the quantification and forgetting of anger emotions has been numerically modeled and incorporated into simulations under the (self-serving) name of the "Ebata Model".

After all, even now, I can give you three "real names" of people I want to kill.

-----

However, I have no understanding of the recent indiscriminate killings at Odakyu, Keio, and the University of Tokyo entrance exams.

"What do they mean when they say they don't care who they kill? And what do they mean, "I want to be caught and sentenced to death"?"

I can't understand them.

In a word, it's not rational.

Of course, there are plenty of irrational negative emotions in the world (resentment, jealousy, vindictiveness, hatred, desperation, destructive impulses, etc.).

However, they are emotions that are shared in our society and also understandable from our own experiences.

And against terrorism and criminal acts caused by religion, ideology, or personal feelings as mentioned above, we can not only rely on the state security forces (such as criminal police (*1) or public security police (*2)), but also take some "preventive measures" by ourselves.

(*1) Basically, they investigate after an incident occurs.

(*2) Even before an incident occurs, they will continue to investigate organizations and individuals that may threaten the security of the nation.

But I can't think of any countermeasures that can be taken against terrorists who say, "I don't care who I will kill" or "I want to be caught and executed".

-----

The persecution of Muslims as "reserve terrorists" by the United States, whose national policy is freedom of religion, is still ongoing.

Of course, this is out of line humanely (and probably legally), but I think the government of a security state would 'do this level of violence'.

In the case of Japan, through the efforts of the government and the police (infiltration as spies and intelligent counter-terrorism operations), they have succeeded in forming a national consensus (brainwashing?) that violent acts are unconditionally "evil, and the far left, far right and cults have been destroyed by them one after another.

(*) In this sense, I think the "Aum Shinrikyo case" is one of those cases that failed to be destroyed.

As a side note, I believe that in Japan, the concept that violence is unconditionally "bad" has been realized not through religion or ideology, but through "air", which is a characteristic that no other country has.

I thought about it again, and found one of my past experiences that can approach the psychology of terrorists in Odakyu, Keio, and the University of Tokyo entrance examination hall.

I wonder if the guys who killed and injured people in Odakyu, Keio, and the University of Tokyo entrance exams had the same hatred that I had for that city.

However, when I have to talk about them, 'Did they have the same level of anger, hatred, and vengeance as I did?' is going to be my standard for their condemnation.

Because they carried out a terrorist act, but I refrained from launching a nuclear missile.

"Why do we have to repeat the curfew so many times?"

The answer is,

"COVID-19 has a staggeringly high infection rate compared to existing flu strains, and a punishingly high mortality rate".

です。

-----

What happens when we 'completely' ignore the government's request for self-restraint?

"The daily life of "dead bodies lying on the street" is coming."

I think it's about time that the government show this vision to the people properly -- it will be criticized, but it's true.

In short, I believe that the countermeasure against the new coronavirus infection is to maintain a life where we don't have to see "dead bodies lying on the street".

In other words, it is a measure to ensure "an environment where people can die while receiving treatment in a hospital.

-----

There are still people who think that the influenza virus and the new coronavirus are "the same" -- well, "the same" is O.K.

The bottom line is that

(1) "Do we want to maintain an environment where people can die while receiving treatment in hospitals?"

(2) "Do we accept dying at home or outdoors if people could no longer be accommodated in a hospital?"

That's the only difference, in my opinion.

If I were to die the same way, I want to

(A) bet on the possibility that I'll be able to stay, and

(B) pass away as comfortably as possible while receiving oxygen inhalation and pain relief treatment.

-----

People who say, "If I'm going to die anyway, it doesn't really matter..." can ignore the government's request for self-restraint and vaccination.

However, in such a case, I think the "reasonable course of action" is to choose "refrain from medical treatment," "home treatment," and "death at home (death by neglect)" as a set menu.

The above has always been my stance.

However, I was quite shocked to read an email I received from a reader the other day.

Today, I finally feel like I'm on the road to recovery from the "strained back" I reported about the other day.

If you've ever experienced it, you may know that a "strained back" is a serious painful condition.

Can't we do something about calling that case of severe pain "strained back"?

In Europe, it is also known as the "witch's blow," but even this is not enough.

I've heard that the official name (general term) for a strained back is "acute back pain syndrome" -- but I'm still not convinced.

Can a serious complex disease of joint sprains, muscle injuries, and myofascial inflammation be called "acute low back pain" or even "strained back" in a derogatory way?

-----

Why is it such a derogatory name? I thought,

(1) Incredibly severe pain that forces a complete cessation of daily activities, and

(2) The appearance of the person is so 'unseemly' that it is ridiculed by others.

(3) Basically, there is no effective remedy or treatment (only poultice).

(4) In principle, complete rest for a long period of time (from a few days to two weeks) will heal the body.

I think it is a combination of items that are extremely difficult to evaluate: "severe pain," "unseemly" "no cure method," and "healing".

-----

The first step in the fight against "strained back" is to find a posture that does not cause pain.

For example, let's say you have found a posture in which you feel no pain, sitting deeply in a chair in your study (called state A) and standing up with your back straight (called state B).

However, a slight deviation from this state (e.g., state B with the upper body bent forward at a slight angle of about 2 degrees) is enough to cause severe pain.

In order to maintain this state, I cling to the things around me (desk, bookcase, shelves), which requires me to support my entire body with my arms.

But I don't have that kind of muscle power.

Eventually, I will be in state B', which is out of state B, and I will be screaming in extreme pain.

The speed at which I move my body will be about 0.2m/second, and the average travel time from the study to the living room table will be about 3 to 5 minutes (usually about 5 seconds).

In the toilet, arm strength is important as I go through the transition state from state A to state B.

In the toilet, arm strength is important as I go through the transition state from state A to state B.

It is a daily routine of trial and error with screams.

-----

I took a thorough sleep strategy this weekend.

After getting a good night's sleep, I finally took a method of forcing sleep by throwing in a stabilizer (x sleeping pills).

Thanks in part to these efforts, the operational range of states A and B began to expand, the pattern of transition vectors increased, and the number of "screams" decreased.

At this rate, I expect to be healed by the middle of this week.

And when I'm healed, I'll probably forget about this.

So now, I am keeping this as a record in my diary.

-----

This time, however, I was horrified just thinking about what I would have done if I hadn't had a companion (wife) to put poultices on my immobile body.

Now, when someone asks me what the point of marriage is, I can proudly answer, "To get a poultice on my lower back.

But at the same time

- This pain will become a part of my daily life as my body ages.

and,

- Entering the nursing care phase where even the spouse is no longer able to help me,

I was afraid to think about the above.

It is only when I am assured of healing that I am able to endure this intense pain.

I am sure that this "strained back" was caused by the sudden death of my mother and the various responses that accompanied it.

I believe this is a message to me from my mother, who has been through the hell of caregiving for over a decade.

I think -- I am convinced that this is more of a "mother's blow" than a "witch's blow".

The following is a personal letter to Dr. Shibata

If you'd like my death body, I can give it all to your university, if you'd like. -- I am afraid that it would be a very "little gift" for thanking you for writing the column.

My concern is that it may not be 'fresh' to transport it to your university (if you can use it for the transplant).

Regarding yesterday's email, I received an email last night from the doctor in charge of the donation.

So, I just called the university hospital.

The following is a summary of the main points of the Q&A session with the person who responded.

-----

Q: Is it possible to have "unlimited transplants" and "no donation"? (My wife's request).

-> Impossible. As a general rule, it is better to think that "transplant" and "donation" are incompatible (there are exceptions such as in the case of corneal transplants only).

Q: How can I donate my body?

-> Reservations for this year have been closed, so please contact us after April 1.

Q: Is it possible for me to donate my body?

-> (When asked for the address) It's within our jurisdiction, so it's possible.

Q: What are the requirements for my donation?

-> There is no problem as long as the following items are not included. (1) Death due to viral infections such as corona, (2) Death due to infectious diseases such as syphilis and tuberculosis, (3) Suicide

Q: I would like to interview or observe the "use" of a donated body.

-> Since it is difficult for our university to respond to this request, we recommend that you contact the national network of "benevolent societies".

-----

I did my own research on "What should I do if I want an organ transplant only?" like my wife.

Basically, this page contains everything you need to know.

In particular, the "organ transplant explanation video" is excellent.

What we can do now is pretty simple.

If you want to donate your organs, do it "now, immediately".

(1) Fill in your address, name, and other information on your driver's license, My Number Card, or Organ Donation Intention Card (I got this at the checkout counter of a convenience store).

(By the way, the field for filling out the card on the My Number Card is so small that it looks like "What kind of ultra-fine pen can you use to fill it out? This makes it look like the government doesn't want people to have organ transplants.)

(2) Repeatedly tell family, friends, and hospitals, "These are in my wallet, so be sure to contact the administration after my death.

後は、

After that,

(3) Live each day healthy enough to be able to reuse my organs, and pray that someone else will reuse them.

The important thing is...

"If you don't actively promote yourself, your organs (worth a total of 10 million yen, according to one story) will be burned (cremated) to ashes."

which is an absolute true.

The idea that "if I show my intentions, someone with good intentions will take care of it" is -- quite frankly -- an illusion and a naive way of thinking.

Of course, this is a story for those who wish to donate their organs for transplantation.

-----

By the way, if it's "donation" versus "organ donation," I prefer the latter.

And Ebata, an engineer who considers human organs as "devices" or "parts", from the bottom of his heart,

"Please! Somebody take my organs!"

I want to shout that.

-----

Incidentally, this is a part of the "life after life" (activities for the end of life) -- I thought it was somewhat similar to "marriage hunting" or "job hunting.

Today, I'd like to share with you a memo that has been the cause of a lot of confusion between my family and my sister over the past few days.

"Funeral services after my death and notes regarding them"

My family will be the ones who will be running around after my death, so I guess it's inevitable that my will is secondary.

Incidentally, my children told me, "After all, you can't walk any other path than 'normal' either.

Last year, I had to replace the battery of my company phone due to its lifespan, but I realized that I had forgotten to install the new coronavirus contact confirmation application (COCOA), so I hurriedly installed it now.

This COCOA has been reported to have many problems, and I feel that it is becoming a 'no-no'.

In addition, if we don't receive any reports of infected contacts, we will lose interest.

Therefore, I propose that we create a test mode called "Test Infection".

For example, I can use a virtual new type of virus, such as the Ebata strain (for testing), and spread the information about the infection to my close contacts as I walk around the city.

If we want, we can make it game-like and issue "Ebata stock (for testing) infection coupons".

In addition to increasing the usage rate of COCOA, this has the advantage that it can be used for field test verification (bug detection).

"I'm sure the Digital Agency and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare have thought of this as well"

If they hadn't come up with this level of idea, I'd call them "incompetent".

-----

However, I know well.

If they create a test mode like this, a virtual new virus called "Ebata strain (for testing)," and they use the virus as a tool for testing,

There are more than a few people who mistake it for a "concentrated corona infection," and as a result, it becomes a socially confusing fuss.

So, I think there is already a team on the system development side that implements this kind of test mode and test mode...

The problem is the declining interest of the general public in COCOA.

I think this is a vexing problem.

-----

How about gathering those who want to be in test mode?

It may be necessary to test the person beforehand to confirm his or her suitability, but it also seems that the registry (registration) process will be difficult.

If this is the case, the government could select and request companies to be tested.

The idea is that the employees of the company (their company phones) will be unconditionally installed with COCOA that supports the test mode, and the operation and management will be thrown to the company.

Yes, if a major company with more than 100,000 employees, including group companies, has declared "we are going with digital services",

I think it would be easier for the government to make a request, don't you think?

Recently, there is a gift "pencils with names written on them".

My mother-in-law wanted to give it as a gift to the child of one of her patients at the hospital, and I ordered and delivered it from Amazon.

Later, I was asked to place an additional order for two more people.

It seems that one of the brothers is in trouble because the other one wants the pencil.

So I tried to place an additional order -- but it's out of stock, and I'm having trouble with it, too.

-----

Still, I'm impressed by the fact that just having a pencil "with your name on it" is a great added value.

The price is more than double that of a regular pencil.

Well, I think it takes a lot of time and effort (special equipment and inputting time and effort) to put a print imprint on a pencil, so I don't know if "more than double" pays off.

"A new business that reverses the era of personal information protection"

I guess I'm overthinking it.

-----

However, I think that "the gift of specializing in individuals" is "the way" of the future.

Oh, by the way, the 3D printer I had ordered seems to have arrived from China this morning.

As you may know, I have never been particular about "graves".

If you read "The Tale of the Heike in Paris", you will understand what I mean.

At the time,

"What a sad and miserable thing a decaying gravestone is -- It is better to have no grave at all.

I think that was the first thought that came to my mind.

-----

Most private cemeteries will be reclaimed and there will be no trace of them after 50 years. And the land will be cleared.

It is quite rare for a cemetery to exist for more than 100 years, and the only ones that remain are the graves of famous celebrities in historical scenic spots.

It is also very doubtful that the person's remains are in there.

The possibility that the land we now live on was once a cemetery is too high to ignore.

In other words -- a grave is just that -- a grave.

Still, I think it has the significance of being a landmark for families and relatives to gather.

However, the validity period of the landmark is definitely shorter than copyright (70 years), and maybe even shorter than patent right(20 years).

-----

So, here's a story that made me laugh a little the other day.

I have already purchased a grave (or is it a "hole"?). I don't know what the funeral will be like, but I do know where the remains will go.

The other day, when we were discussing with my family that we were considering donating our bodies to a university hospital, I said to them,

Ebata: "I heard that if I donate my body, they will bury me in the university's cemetery.

My wife was very upset and said to me

""What? You don't want to be in the grave with me, is that it?"

like "You don't want to drink with me"

I politely replied, "No, no, I want to join you and spend many years together.

It is true that I want to be in the same grave with my wife. I feel like we could have a lot of fun.

For example, we can make cherry blossoms bloom in the middle of winter by scientifically reacting the soil, or blow up an entire cemetery by achieving a room temperature nuclear fusion reaction.

-----

However, I think there are a certain number of people (or a significant number of people) who say, 'I don't want to be in the same grave as my spouse, father-in-law, or my mother-in-law, even if I die.

To understand this, I suggest you try a thought experiment like "I'm going to the same grave as the boss I hate so much.

I felt like I was going to throw up just thinking about it.

Including these issues, I think there is a certain persuasiveness to the idea that "graves" are the worst.

There's a movie on Amazon Prime whose title is "Tokyo Nuclear Power Plant (*)" -- it's good. It's funny.

(*)This is a separate content from Mr.Hirose's book "Nuclear Power Plants in Tokyo".

Please watch it with a light heart.

If you want, you can listen to the audio alone, like a radio, and enjoy it fully.

Nevertheless, I was shocked to learn that this movie was produced in 2004.

It's as if the movie was made with a foreknowledge of what will happen in 2011.

-----

This is a sudden change of subject, but our family basically subscribes to the Yomiuri Shimbun.

I basically 'dislike' the tone of the Yomiuri Shimbun, but I continue to subscribe to it for one reason only: The articles are written in 'technical writing' style.

(Click here for a list of my biases against each newspaper in Japan)

Recently, the Yomiuri Shimbun has been annoying me with its articles on the "push" for nuclear power policy after the earthquake and nuclear accident, however I read the front page of the paper as I need to know the information.

"The ghosts of Monju are making a comeback, using "carbon neutrality" as an oddity, and their stories are popping up all the time"

From the bottom of my heart, I marvel at how immortal they (the nuclear interests) are in an absolute sense.

-----

By the way, I recently contributed columns recommending (or so it seems) the use of the COVID-19 vaccine.

And I've been reading about me (Ebata) on some forums.

"A government agent (apparently that's me) contributing under the guise of an ordinary citizen"

I laughed quite a bit when I saw it written (my wife and I were laughing hysterically).

To be honest, I would be happy to write anything if I could make a living as a "government agent" -- but the government has never approached me before.

Maybe this is the reason.

-----

If I were a "government agent,"

This column, or

This column

would have made me be fired in a heartbeat, I think. What do you think of that?

I've written a lot about "Hyouka", the novel and anime.

The main character in this story, Satoshi Fukube, is portrayed as a hobbyist who is well versed in all kinds of knowledge and miscellaneous topics.

そして、

He calls himself a "database", with saying

"The database cannot reach to conclusions"

and self-deprecates his inability to use his knowledge for reasoning and prediction.

However, this is a typical misunderstanding of databases (by the public).

-----

A database is not just a storage medium for vast amounts of knowledge.

Databases have the ability to pull up tables that hit certain complex criteria at very high speed -- or rather, if they can't do that, they don't deserve the name "database".

# select * from passenger_log where riding_user IN ( select user_id from request_log_view where passenger_log.departure_time < time_before) ;

"Identify the users whose departure time is after the departure time of the bus, and raise all points on their travel route"

from tens of millions of tables (using SQL statements, etc.).

A database is one that has the ability to run multiple search conditions simultaneously and extract information from different perspectives.

Of course, this is not an " estimation " or a " prediction ", and of course not a " conclusion".

Sometimes, however, the potential of a database is "something more".

-----

Of course, this is not an " estimation " or a " prediction ", and of course not a " conclusion ".

Generally speaking, "database" is a title (a title of respect) given to a person's broad knowledge, which is no problem, I think.

The reason why I'm writing this is because I've been working on building a database again recently, and I've been watching "Hyouka" in the background.
