私は、これまで、中部→関西(学生時代)→関東と居所を移動してきました。

この中でも、中部地域に、DIYショップが多いような気がしています。

子どものころから、ちょっとした配線工事、水回りの修理、庭の手入れは勿論、棚、机くらいは、自分で作ってしまいました。

中学生の頃には、屋根に登ってアンテナの設営もやっていました(以前、自宅での設置を自分でやろうとしたら、嫁さんに止められましたが)

When I was in junior high school, I climbed the roof and set up the antenna.(When I tried to set it up at home recently, I was stopped by my wife.)

「テレビの配線の為だけに、電気屋さんを呼ぶ」などというイベントは ―― 『大きなお屋敷に住んでいる、お金持ちだけの話だろう』と、信じていました。

I believed that "It would be a story of a rich man living in a big house" about "calling an electrician just for television wiring”

嫁さんの実家での話を聞いて、そうでもないことを知るに至りましたが。

I heard the story of my wife's parents, and I knew that I misunderstood.

DIYショップに近づくとワクワクします。

I am excited when I approach a DIY shop.

巨大なDIYショップになると、そのワクワク感はさらにアップします。

When it becomes a huge DIY shop, the excitement is further increased.

基本的に、私は、何か問題が発生した時に、その問題を解決する為にDIYショップに行きます。

Basically, I go to the DIY shop to solve the problem when something goes wrong.

しかし、DIYショップの物品を眺めていると、別の解決方が思いついて、それが、また、なんとも言えないほど楽しいのです。

However, when looking at the goods of the DIY shop, another solution comes to mind, and it is also so much fun.

DIYショップに陳列されている工具も、私を楽しませてくれます。

The tools displayed in the DIY shop also entertain me.

業者に頼むことを考えれば、コストパフォーマンスは圧倒的ですし、それ以上に、これらの作業は、それ自身が楽しいです。

The cost performance is overwhelming when I ask the contractor, and moreover, these tasks are fun for myself.

ただ、まあ、これらが「万人にとって『楽しい』」というものではないことも分かってはいます。

However, I also know that these are not "fun" for everyone.

私にとって、ショッピングモールとは、書店とレストラン以外は、単なる店舗ですし、アミューズメントパークは、待ち時間0分でない限り、単なるストレス発生装置です。

For me, shopping malls are just stores, except bookstores and restaurants, and amusement park is just a stress generator, unless it is waiting for 0 minutes.

という訳で、今回も、
