2020-01-08 "If you write "readme.txt", do you think that anything is acceptable?" [長年日記]

I had to spend a whole day in the process of moving to Windows 10.

I think, for example ,Windows XP, "7", and this time "10", forced OS migration is like,

Great earthquake, revolution, coup

that are annoying something.

My "maintenance bias" is strong, that means "conservative" like me,

Migrating an OS means rebuilding an office environment that I have to start to work from scratch.

My work is also affected.

It's common that old files ig going to be unusable, and old programs run to stop working.

-----

Not only OS but also OSS version up is honestly tired.

In particular, I cannot forgive the creators that change file formats and commands on their own without making them backward compatible.

"If you write "readme.txt", do you think that anything is acceptable?"

I can't say that because of the huge weakness, "I'm free to use OSS." So if they say to me

"Do not use if you do not want"

I can't refute a word.

-----

It is natural that the "maintenance bias" become stronger with the age.

For the old brain, anything new is tough and painful.

In particular, seniors have a life-threatening resistance against changes of old and completed objects. (For example, systems, neighborhood associations, nursing care services, etc.)

This is "natural".

But at the same time, it is also a "social evil".

For those who can respond to new things, it is supposed to take away the "easy" way, and enforce the existing "inefficient" way.

-----

Considering this way, this forced change to Windows 10 may be a kind of "social justice", however,

After retirement, I am convinced that I will never respond to an OS version upgrade.
