2014-04-03 I misunderstood "creation" fundamentally.

In the Ebata, I used to order my senior daughter to make illustrations.

Both she and I were very tired to operate draw software on the PC, and finally we have decided that

We don't use any draw software more.

There are some reasons why I have decided. The primary reason is that any draw software is troublesome.

The daughter as an illustrator said that,

- Enormous stress-out of different place between drawing line, and displaying line,

- Annoying to push bottoms to change pen size and eraser point by point,

- Painful for operating PC when working of the concept from the beginning,

- need more time to color and to modify them.

On the other hand, I as an ordered thought that,

- taking less than two hours for the making period.

- No need to research the draw software operation we didn't know,

- Easy to share the concept, and to point out modification, and ask the severe deadline.

And as a finishing stroke,

- I like hand drawn works of my daughter than that were made by the draw software.

"Please draw a picture within six hours"

"Impossible"

"You may draw it not to use PC.

When I saw this work, I thought that

What is a reason that we have to keep using draw software?

-----

I misunderstood "creation" fundamentally

In my case, I could know the pleasure of writing my columns, thanks to word processor. But it is not suitable for all field of "creation".

Especially, the pleasures of drawing are generated by not only making image but also, touching, watching, and feeling the pressure of the pens.

On the second thought, I also try to print out my columns and modify some phase with a red pen, again and again.

I know experimentally that we could not get whole image of document just on PC's display.

As my wife's case, she always prints out all kind of photos by digital camera, and fixes the pictures in albums.

The albums are multi-purpose viewers that enable us to review our daughter’s growing reports in a few seconds, and show us more than one hundred pictures at the same time.

-----

Now, in the Ebata, the nostalgia command to be returned to analog is going.

For the moment, we have no plan to use the draw software again.

The only case might be just for me, because I can't make a picture by my hand.

2015-04-03 In addition, these "Natto" are going to be sold at the school festival by the package putting emblem of our school. This will contribute our school branding.

Continuation from Yesterday.

Ebata:"First of all, the name is important."Natto club" and "Natto lovers" are common. "Research laboratory of fermentation" feels hard. Contrary, it might be better that "Circle of delicious Natto". it feel old and retro."

Daughter:"..."

Ebata:"The content of letter of interest is that

(1)Natto has been the most famous traditional food since ancient time of Japan,

(2)Natto is also one of the healthy and low-Carolyn foods, as counter measures for adult diseases,

(3)Natto is the typical and famous low-cost food to help budget and decrease Engel's coefficient.

In the above reason, the purpose of this club is to study Natto.

Um mm, it is perfect!"

Daughter:"..."

The activities of this club are three. Each activity is in the different Working Group(WG).

Firstly, the first WG works for tastes and production method of Natto around the Japan.

The second WG works for the origin and the development process of Natto from the viewpoint of Japanese history.

The third GW tries to produce Natto by oneself in order to understand the food from the viewpoint of science.

Daughter:"..."

Ebata:"In addition, these Natto are going to be sold at the school festival by the package putting emblem of our school. This will contribute our school branding.

Daughter:"..."

Ebata:"Yes! Yes! Yes!! A remaining issue is to advertise the activities. But I have just a connection of mass communications media of technical field. Wait, wait. It would be preferable."

Daughter:"Well, Pop. I go to bed now"

Ebata:"Wait a minutes. I don't finish explaining the club's rules and organization..."

2016-04-03 "It is an easy idea isn't it?"

Previously, I had a story that "I am in trouble not to get radio waves of the radio clock in my office".

So now, I had bought the radio clock module (D606C), and I tried to use the receiving antenna as a transmission antenna. Unfortunately the radio wave doesn't seem to fly.

A radio clock seems not to receive the fake radio wave.

"It is an easy idea isn't it?"

I am discouraged.

I have also tried to make the module as a receiving device, however, it didn't seem to go well.

When it comes not to go well, I try to go frantically. It is my merit but also a big disadvantage.

I am aware of it.

2017-04-03 "Protestant" roughly means "anti-establishment".

Today, I went to a college of my senior daughter to attend the entrance ceremony.

At the ceremony, I was a little glad to know that her college has been based on educations of Protestant denomination.

"Protestant" roughly means "anti-establishment".

At this time, the Ebatas becomes "anti-establishment", except for my junior daughter.

Or not.

-----

I thought without researches that there is few college of Protestant denomination in Japan.

Because, It's natural that "anti-establishment" be in a "minority" since olden days

A little interest came out, I studied the number of Catholic colleges and Protestant colleges, but surprisingly, this was almost the same number.

Well, Japan is a country of "Christianity" quite recently "imported".

Also, if academism stands on the "power side" in the first place, that is disgusting.

So, this may not be so surprising.

-----

Well, in Japan, few people are concerned about "catholic" "Protestant", and moreover, I know I will make everyone soiled.

So, I didn't talk about this topic.

However, I often get pleased or angry about what an ordinary person thinks "anything is fine".

2018-04-03 "everyone does not want to have past (and unfortunate) information"

(Continuation from yesterday)

Basically,

"everyone does not want to have past (and unfortunate) information"

I think that it is a common story that any organization, even if it is a individual.

In most cases, "IT systems solve everything" is a rare case, and the effect of the system changes greatly depending on who uses the system.

-----

In my case, when fighting someone or something, I will distribute that "battle data" with a simultaneous broadcast e-mail (Of course, it annoys me).

"Encrypted documents I only can solve are arriving at the same time to more than ten people.

By just this fact, everybody (even court) can accept the material existed when I distributed the mail.

But, if I do not send the mail, it is the same as "I did not do anything".

-----

"The nightmare "handwritten document" is not coming"

With that kind of guarantee, I agree to install any system.

2019-04-03 "It is hard for women to get into a beef-donkey shop or a standing buckwheat shop" is a famous talk. And it is clear when looking at the customers in the shop.

The other day the second daughter said, "I ate the Yoshinoya beef bowl alone."

There are several anecdotes about Yoshinoya's beef bowl in the Ebata family.

About Yoshinoya's beef bowl,

- My wife said, "I cannot taste beef"

- When my eldest daughter was an infant, she said, "Rice (white rice) is bad",

- I argue that "the Yoshinoya's beef bowl" should be considered separately from "beef bowl"

I think in the future, I will not go to the Yoshinoya with my whole family.

That aside.

-----

"It is hard for women to get into a beef-donkey shop or a standing buckwheat shop" is a famous talk. And it is clear when looking at the customers in the shop.

However, the second daughter who is now a high school student, seems to be using one of those restaurants.

Still, she seems to choose one where school friends are unlikely to be nearby.

Ebata: "Are you ashamed to be seen by a friend?"

Second daughter: "I think that it is the answer that you reach to the thought"

2020-04-03 - In an izakaya bar, leave your seat sufficiently, complain in "sign language", and make ill of your boss in "sign language"

(Continuation from yesterday)

However,

-The reception side (host) and the customer (guest) sit in different seats, and both use a smartphone to talk by text (voice calls are also prohibited in principle)

-A quiet, intelligent space without shyness or obscenity, by text messages intersect only.

With such a maid cafe, I would like to try again.

-----

The means to achieve this complete non-verbal communication (apparent misuse) is, I think,

(1) Always wearing earplugs or noise cancellers

in addition,

(2) Realization of a "Sign Language Rapid Learning Program" for all citizens, bringing together the full power of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology

- In morning and luncheons, leaders explain the work of the day in "sign language" and members ask questions in "sign language"

- In a job interview, applicants present their future aspirations in sign language

- In an izakaya bar, leave your seat sufficiently, complain in "sign language", and make ill of your boss in "sign language"

(The above "sign language" can be converted to "SNS text message")

In short, I want to see a world in which humans are "lonely" over the world, the "lonely" are connected.

-----

The Spanish flu, which is said to have killed up to 100 million people worldwide 100 years ago, has converged in just under two years.

At that time, the existence of the virus was unknown.

By comparison, the new Corona disaster is under much better conditions than the Spanish cold. Of course I know, this is the worst.

So, I don't think it's a big deal if you have to heep silent about two years.

2021-04-03 I don't know about bureaucratic or political organizations, but in private companies, this is the normal response.

At a press conference on March 30, Health, Labor and Welfare Minister Norihisa Tamura revealed that 23 employees of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare had a dinner at a restaurant in Ginza, Tokyo late at night on March 24, when the Tokyo Metropolitan Government was still requesting the reduction of business hours in response to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

Mr. Tamura apologized that "I apologize for betraying the public's trust"

-----

No, no, no, Mr. Minister. "I think you're out of line of "I apologize for betraying the public's trust".

"I apologize for betraying the public's 'common sense'."

I think that this one is right on target.

"In order to prevent the recurrence of such a situation..." is also different.

"We have commissioned an independent third party to investigate the mechanisms that cause this situation, and we will identify the structural causes by the end of April and complete the organizational restructuring by the end of May"

I think it is necessary to make a declaration that clearly states the target and milestone of the project.

-----

I don't know about bureaucratic or political organizations, but in private companies, this is the normal response.

2022-04-03 My wife was about to watch the recorded live-action version of "The Promised Neverland" that aired on terrestrial TV, however I stopped her just in time.

My wife was about to watch the recorded live-action version of "The Promised Neverland" that aired on terrestrial TV, however I stopped her just in time.

"It was a close call"

So, now, compulsively, I show my wife the animated version of "The Promised Neverland (Season 1)" on NetFlix.

In fact, the reason for the series of PC repairs from yesterday to this morning is that I was trying to get my wife to watch the animated version of "The Promised Neverland" when the PC malfunctioned.

Hence, I had reason to "rush" the repair.

My wife said she would watch the live-action version and then the anime, but I did not allow her the order because of stop spoiling it.

I think I rewatched the last episode and the one before of season 1 at least 10 times (by the way, I have not watched season 2 yet).

-----

Incidentally, my second daughter seems to be a "Neverland of Promises" comic book guesser.

The Ebata family is a media-diverse family.

2023-04-03 If you ask me to name my least favorite "month" of the year, I will name "April".

If you ask me to name my least favorite "month" of the year, I will name "April".

- I am uncomfortable to see people who have never moved before start moving like insects.

- My mood darkens at the reality that these young men, looking nervous in their ill-fitting suits, are about to fall behind.

- I am depressed that some of these young people will stop coming to work in the not-too-distant future (around Golden Week for) and, at an even higher rate, will suffer from mental illness.

And

- It is not a pleasant feeling to see someone much younger than I am at various personnel announcements, rising to greatness and speaking from the podium about the policy for the term.

Every time I do, I hate myself for thinking, 'What was so different about him and me?'

Well, I know the reason well.

In this column, I also wrote, 'A lot of juniors who are better than you will join the company after you, and they will easily become your boss.

I know this in my head, but it's hard to see someone I actually know moving up in the world.

-----

Ebata: "I tend to think, 'What was different about him and me?'

Wife: "Needless to say, that would be 'everything'"

My wife says,

The only people who get ahead are those who benefit the company and have the chutzpah to do so."

2024-04-03 But isn't it 'normal' that 'no questions are asked' at meetings attended by executives?

April is the season for kick-off meetings.

I have moderated several kick-off meetings in my career.

A common phenomenon in such meetings is the "no questions asked."

But isn't it 'normal' that 'no questions are asked' at meetings attended by executives?

I am afraid of saying something terrible and getting noticed by the executives.

As for me in particular, I once asked a question that was so off the mark that it made the place feel whitewashed, and I'm still traumatized by it.

I have a "track record" of being marked by executives for asking wrong questions in the past.

Well, at international conferences not attended by my boss or company officials, I turn into a "question-making machine.

-----

Now, I employed a "negative lottery" when I was a moderator.

(1) At the start of the meeting, I will declare that if no questions are asked within 5 seconds, I will randomly appoint a section head.

(2) I shall nominate a section chief. The nominated section chief can ask questions or reassign subordinates.

(3) The reassigned subordinate must ask questions

This "negative lottery" filled me with a sense of urgency. I had to attend the meeting, thinking of a story that everyone could ask questions about.

My successor seems to have inherited this method (not sure how this year is going).

-----

The advantages of this method are,

(1) Avoids silencing the field.

(2) The nominated person can feel like they can 'just go along with it' even if they ask strange questions.

This system brings a sense of game into the meeting.

It is evident that "a low-level person will not willingly ask questions at a meeting attended by executives." Still, it seems to me that the concept of assuming this obviousness is lacking.

It is possible to keep meetings running at a moderate level by adding just the right amount of "compulsion" and "resignation.

-----

One thing I don't want you to misunderstand, however, is that I have little desire to activate the meeting and contribute to the organization. This is just a?

"method I have devised to complete the mission I have been given."
