江端：「女性が『一人メシ』を回避するというのは、理に叶っているんだけどね」
I think that it is reasonable for women to avoid "lunch alone".
長女：「どういうこと？」
What does it mean?
江端：「ほんの数万年前まで、男性は食料を確保するという手段で、女性は子どもを育てるという手段で、家族というコミュニティを守ってきた訳だよね」
"Just several ten thousand years ago, both men and women save their life and family with getting foods by men and caring their children by women."
長女：「うん」
"Hm-hm"
江端：「男性が不在である時間または期間が存在したから、その間、女性は自分の身の安全を確保する必要があったんだ」
In order to get foods for men, they have to be long absent from their home. The women have to save their and children life for the period.
長女：「で？」
"And?"
江端：「女性は、自分の命を守る為に集団化せざるを得なかったし、特に、食事中は食事を強奪される危険もあった訳だ」
"The women should have made them groupy, especially there were some dangers, for example, robbing them their foods during lunch time.
長女：「で？」
"And?"
江端：「女性にとっての『一人メシ』は、命の危険となる行為であり、実際に『一人メシ』を敢行してきた女性は生き残れず、遺伝子を後世に伝えることができなかったのだろう」
The "lunch alone" was a really danger for women, and a special woman who tried to do "lunch alone" could not survive and remain their gene in future ages.
長女：「じゃあ、女性は『弁当を人に取られるのを回避する為に、「一人メシ」を回避してきた』と、こういうこと？」
"You said, women have kept their lunch box in order to avoid robbing them for a long time haven't they?"
江端：「『利己的遺伝子』という考え方に基づく仮説だけど ―― 説得力あるだろう？」
"It is just hypothesis based on the thought of "selfish gene", but do you think it is very persuasive?"
長女：「私は、友人に弁当取られたって構わないよ!」
"I don't care robbing my lunch box by my friend at all!"
江端：「望む時に、望むだけの食料が取れるなんて奇跡は、人類史上、ここ数十年くらいだし、それも地球上のほんの一部だよ。今なお、相当数が、今でも飢餓に苦しんでいる事実もある」
"It is a kind of miracle we can get and eat foods we want anytime over the last several ten years. It is a case that people who are in parts of this earth, are hard to live their life."
長女：「ふーん、じゃあ、結局、私達を「一人メシ」で苦しめているのは、私達の遺伝子という訳だ？」
"Hmm, we are suffering from our gene as far as "lunch alone" is concerned.
江端：「そういう風に考えると、一応説明としては筋が通る ―― だが、そういう風に、いつまでも逃げ続けていい訳ではないよ。遺伝子や形質を理由に、 色々な差別が肯定されてきたのも、また事実だから」
"It might be just easy to understand if we think on such a way. But we should not run away toward the logic. It is a case that we have added to discrimination because of the existence of gene and sexual difference.
